I write permits and review environemntal reports for any developement adjacent to a navigable waterbody in Eastern,NC. I have never seen my workload crawl to a halt like it has in the past 2 months. What do you guys do for a living and has it grinded to a halt. I am running out of news to read.

I work for an environmental consulting firm. Summers are always busier for us. I don't think we've had any slow-down from the economy. Some sectors get less busy, but others are pretty recession-proof. Personally, my work load has eased a little lately, 'cause we finished one contract and are in the early stages of the next. But I wouldn't say it's slow at all.

It's that time of year which usually doesn't matter to us, but this year things are quieter than usual. Still, I've been a busy bee. Boss is in the process of negotiating/closing/moving in to a new home so his mind has been elsewhere for the last few weeks, which is the main contributor to the "quieter". We are still up on the year, and should push it well higher in the months to come.

Labor and Employment Lawyer. My work comes in cycles. Some days, I'm swamped others I'm twiddling my thumbs. When I've got a trial coming, I'm swamped. After trial is over, things get a lot more sane for a few weeks while I decompress. I pretty much make my own schedule and do what I want when I want. As long as I meet my deadlines and do quality work, I can troll the net.

For some reason, I haven't had a trial since May. Kinda slow in that department. That just means I'll have 5 or 6 this winter, though, so it will even out as the year goes by.

My job as the cripple begins next week too. Met with the surgeon yesterday - no typing, writing, driving, eating, etc with my right hand. Not allowed to get back into the gym till end of October. Still planning on coaching though - but nothing hands on...
