Lets say you had to work 40 hours a week scheduled, but chose how they were scheduled. Do you prefer to work 8 hours a day, for 5 days. 10 hours for 4?

Right now my shop does 4 days at 9, and friday with 5 hours. Personally I grew up with long days, and I'd actually prefer working 4 10s, or possibly even 3 13.5s. To me having a 4 day weekend every week would be total kickass, and worth not being able to do anything but the work for those 3 days.

Pretty much the same here. I cant expect all my employees to work the hours I'd want therefore I cant work them(only).

hypothetically though?

pyrocasto, hypothetical doesn't work in the General/Neuro/Ortho/OB/Vascular/trauma Surgical realm. Neutral

Hypothetically, I would work 4 10's in the winter and 3 13.5's in the summer.

Sales and support doesn't work that way though. I work when my customer's work.

I currently work 4-10's for one job. It allows me to help build a family business on fridays and some saturdays. i like the 4-10's schedule. i come in at 5am and am off at 3:30. also, if there is nothing to do at my other job, i have a 3 day weekend.

My work is VERY flexible as far as hours go.... I end up working 9ish hours 4 days a week and then just come in on Friday until I have 40. Though I have been taking "most" Mondays off the past 1.5 months to get more boat time in....so it has been 9ish, 9ish, 9ish, 3-4ish....LONG WEEKEND..... Very Happy

There is a current push to go 4-10's and that may happen sooner than later... I am fine with it, whatever works....I am flexible as well.

I am on a 9/80 schedule which is pretty cool.

We work 9 hours Mon-Thurs, 8 on Friday and that gives you every-other Friday off.

I like the idea of longer weekends, but I also enjoy having some time during the week, so I think 4-10's would be tough every week.

4-10's is a very long day infront of a computer. going to lunch helps. the best part of my schedule is the early start and finish time. NO traffic.

4-10's is the way to go. I've done both, and have done them in a physical labor and an office atmosphere. Having a 3-day weekend every week is great. Plus, with gas prices being what they are, you save money by driving to work one less day. Then again, you probably spend that money on your extra day off. Very Happy

pet575, probably, but at least it's doing something other than work.

4 days a week = 208 days a year worked, with 157 days off a year. At 10 hours you still have time to get errands done(maybe not business hours errands).

3 days a week worked and you switch the numbers.
