What does the LF Lyman has over Shane

Many guys in this forum stated Luman has more pop than Shane board. I`m wondering why..... as the Shane is wider and has more rocker??

I would say they have about the same pop or are pretty close.....I ride a lyman 139 normally and was on the shane 140 this weekend and it almost felt the same.....The Shane is a little slower and has more grip but still a great board. Both land really soft so i would say the main difference is the speed and the lyman breaks loose a little easier.....just my.02

I rode the Shane 140 last summer and beginning of this summer, Lyman 139 now and it would say the Lyman actually does have more pop (maybe because it is faster) and lands a little softer. And I LOVED the Shane. Didn't ride my Lyman for 4 months after I bought it cause I liked the Shane so much. However, after riding the Lyman, I could never go back. As similar as they are, the Lyman is faster, has more pop and does land softer.

i rode the 06 shane 140...loved it, kept riding it and eventually bought an 07.

tried the lyman. great board but didn't think it was good enough (for me) to replace my shane. so i stuck w/ the shane.

in my experience, the lyman takes you more out in the flats than the shane. that doesn't necessarily mean that it gives you a bigger pop. the shane takes you more up than out. that doesn't mean it does pop as big as the lyman. farther out doesn't mean bigger.

jeff7, if you can get your hands on the smaller fins that came w/ the 132, put 'em on your 140...it makes the shane much looser.

Thanks all for your coments. It makes a lot of sense what you`re saying... The Lyman takes you more out into the flats but not as high as the Shane, due to its width and the bigger 3 stage rocker.

I haven`t decide which board to get. I should probably wait until the `09s come out for sale.

The Lyman takes you just as high but it also does take you out further. Trust me, the lyman launches you upward. Rode the Marek the other day and it actually rode pretty similar but didn't land nearly as soft.

I was thinking about buying either the shane or the lyman, but i was wondering what size in each would be better for me. i'm around 185-190 lbs. and 5'11". the shane comes in 136 and 140 and the lyman comes in 139 and 143. I was thinkin' the larger boards because i've heard its never bad to go a little big, but i have no idea?

if you get the lyman go with the 139

bass69, thanks i'm actually leanin' towards the shane because it looks so sick, but now i'm not sure. i made the mistake of buyin a hydroslide when i started and im tryin to undo my mistake...

Baker0788, Don't base your choice off looks. But if you are I think the Lyman looks jsut as good as the shane.

You'll like both boards so if you really like the look of the Shane, I would go with that one. They're very similar boards and at your size, the 140 Shane might actually be a better fit for ya than the 139 Lyman.

Baker0788, Yea I didn't really mean it towards these two boards, because either one you pick you will be more than happy with because they are both sick boards. I guess I am just bias towards the Lyman, because i own it.

I was in the same position you are thought. I had my final decision narrowed down to these two boards, and it took me about two weeks to make a final decision. Like I said though you will be more than happy with either board.

P.S. Since looks do matter to you go with something from 2008. Wink
