Yesterday my family left Edson, AB on our way home. We were about half way between Jasper, AB and Valemount, BC when someone passes us on the double line. Little does the penis face know that a car was coming around the corner too. He slams on his brakes, hits our boat which causes it to swing out which then puts our truck sideways. Everyone in the truck had thought a trailer tire had blown.

We skid sideways into oncoming, hit the ditch, and judging from the lack of marks on the ground, we flipped once through the air, hit the ground, and rolled again. The guy that hit us was now parked on top of the boat like a vehicular missionary position and the right side of the truck was just munched. There was also an imprint of the boat's hull in the roof of our truck.

Luckily almost everyone got out unscathed. My mom had a few cuts from the glass shattering but none were worse than a cat's scratch. Our dog, however was on the same side as my mom. I'd put my guitar beside me in the back right seat which I think stopped the dog from falling out his window. The guitar is toast but the dog is perfectly fine!

We got out and looked at the car that hit us. Some 75 year old dude and his wife get out of their Monte Carlo, dust themselves off and sit down without a care in the world. When the park rangers and rescue workers came, they checked for injuries, then somehow they drove those farts into Jasper to rent a car so they could make their Tee Time in Salmon Arm. Priorities in check, they made sure the golf clubs were okay, and left the scene.

Meanwhile, we're stuck there for 2 hours waiting for a tow truck and a flat deck. We finally got a ride into Valemount and arranged a $400 taxi ride home Evil or Very Mad

Every single piece of luggage was completely torn apart, and the truck and boat are write-offs without a doubt while his car had minor front end damage. I'm curious to know what ICBC is going to give us and really hoping we don't get ripped off. The senior, Albertan driver is facing at least 6 traffic violations according to the officer, but ~$1200 is nothing considering what could have happened.

What had happened yesterday was more than likely the best outcome of the accident. Everybody, including the dog, was absolutely fine.

I'll post some pics of the wreck when I find the camera.

THANK GOD you are ok.

You might want to get the dog vet checked, though. I know he seems ok, but dogs hide injuries really, really well, and he could be bleeding internally or something. Just a thought, if you have the time. But thank god none of you are seriously hurt.

been there done that! Glad to see you are all ok, boats are just chunks of fiberglass and are eaisily replaced. Without a doubt seeing your boat destroyed like that is one of the worst feelings.

The more you look back on it the more lucky you will feel about the whole situation.

Chad H, Sure is.

cameraboy, I'll mention it. The dog kind of treated the inside of the truck like a hamster ball though.

Skwake, I tried to keep my cool but almost lost it after his wife said "Honey, you think the clubs are okay?" Mad

DRAGON88, It could have been A LOT worse. The car could have actually hit head on which would have caused a nasty pileup. Even more lucky was that my sister decided to stay an extra 2 weeks in Saskatchewan. I don't even want to think about what could have happened if she was in the other seat (look where the dent from the hull is) Shocked

Oh my god! Shocked This is a prime example of why elderly drivers need to retake the driver's test when they go for renewal. If this happened to my family, there'd be a large law suit filed against the state/province where these folks got their licence. I know it's not right to stereotype elderly drivers but, they SUCK. Some eighty some year old bitch pulled out in front of me in a neon yesterday on the interstate. For one, I was speeding, and I bet 100 and my left nut she wasn't even doing 40. (speed limit on this stretch of highway is 55). Luckily I was in my mom's tahoe so a rearending would have done a hell of a lot more damage to her than me. Then naturally I started playing nascar; Got around her, got back in that lane and nailed the brakes. Stupid drivers piss me off to the highest extent.

nickl011, Bumper tag = worse than slow drivers. Lately I've been driving like a grandma lately because my Ranger's brakes are down to 2 mm of padding and my wheel bearing is f**ked so I've been getting tailgated a lot. If someone tried to bumper tag me I'd hit them, Pitt them into a bush and beat the sh*t out of them. If they actually rear-ended you they could say you were driving recklessly no problem and argue the insurance claim. Thanks for your concern though.

Most likely me and I admit it. Like I said before, stupid drivers piss me off to the highest extent, even though I'm hypocritical and get really aggressive when I'm pissed, something I realize I need to work on. If she'd been in another lane and was going slow that would be perfectly fine. I'm usually going slower due to fuel prices and get my a$$ tailgated all the time. So I just slow down more so they'll pass me. Anyway, sorry about the hijack, but QNev, your situation does bring another point to the table.
