I started trying these this week. I come in with a moderately strong progressive edge and tail heavy and throw my shoulders forward off the wake. It feels good off the take off but for some reason about half way through I end up with the rope in my back hand and then it gets yanked out of my hand. I get most of the way around and land on my butt or the tail of the board. I feel like maybe my axis is wrong, like Im not flipping perpendicular enough to the boat, Im kind of doing it TS Frontflip style where you go straight over the top. Im also getting pulled switch, probably because I have the rope in my back hand, but I feel like I need to throw it more to the side, but the more I do that the more I go to fakie since its like opening up to the boat. The video attempts are on a short rope (65). I tried one at full rope today (80) and the added hang time really helped me to bring it around. I feel like I got around to the point of being over the board enough to land it but I landed slightly sideways and no rope. I attached a video of a few attempts. The first and last (4th) look kind of like mexican backrolls. The fourth was a flub but I thought that was interesting and maybe useful so I attached it. The 2nd was ok, but the 3rd seemed like my best. I think I popped that one the best. I actually was trying a F2F there (I tried to make it a F2F for a few attempts to see if it was easier since I was getting pulled around anyways)

Any help? I think I can huck it around more so Im not worried about that, but I cant figure out the rope problem and going switch. Should I just try the F2F for now? I wanna get the HS Front down too though eventually. Thanks |

| That looks a lot like what I did for a while. I still haven't ridden one out but my rotation is more like a cart wheel (which it should be) than yours is. I found that coming in with more speed helps me spin the cartwheel rotation better. I also try to take it straight up. My buddy can do them, and when he does them he has a lot of speed coming in and they are massive. It's a huge trick when done correctly. I would recommend more speed and taking it more straight up, but someone who can land them might say otherwise. Good luck with it. I just can't figure it out these days. |

come in backfoot heavy. pull your front knee to your chest and pin your front ear to your shoulder. Should look more of an end over end rotation of the board.
This is coming from someone who hasn't landed one. lol. but I know thats the concept. _________________ www.betacuts.com

You are starting the ratation right, but you start tucking into a front roll type thing halfway through. You should also take a bigger cut out. once you get to the wake, you need to pop hard off your back foot, once your back foot leaves the wake, put the handle really close to your lead hip and tuck like you have been. Once you are tucked, keep tucked in that same position, instead of throwing your head forward, throw it over your lead shoulder.
When I learned this trick, it was one of the most akward feeling rotations, but once you get used to it, its one of the easiest tricks you can do. |
