My family just bought a boat this summer and after begging for a month I finally talked them into letting me get a wakeboard. Because I knew almost nothing about it we just bought what a few friends told us was a good brand, however, I have noticed that of the brands you all recommend its not included. I got an OBrien Vision 140. Is this a good board for me to start on and will I be able to do most of the beginner/intermediate stuff on this board. I only get to go on the weekends so I probably won't get past those levels of tricks.

the board will be good to start on and go on to intermediate stuff. you should be fine with that. is the board the right size?

abmoore, it is a perfectly fine board. How big are you, though? You want to make sure it is the right size for you. Also, pull the removable fins off of it ASAP. Might as well learn to edge correctly right away so that you'll be very good when you put them back on.

I am about 5'10 and 155 pounds. We read the weight limit and it said it was for 150-240 pounds but we didn't know if it mattered what height.

pet575 I actually never put the fins on. Since I didn't know much about it we decided to try without them first and I got up my 3rd try without them so we just decided to leave them off, but thanks for the advice. When would be a good time to put the fins on?

a 140 is gonna be a little big dude, but if it feels ok then thats cool. usually you would go off of a sizing chart like this..

dont put the fins on. leave em off. unless its a really choppy day then you can throw em on but you dont need them. you will learn how to progressive edge correctly without the fins.

Thanks kevoLFwake. It feels fine to me but I don't really have anything to compare it too because its my first board. The reason we went with the bigger board is because I will be sharing it with my father and sister who are both bigger than me.
