Large Rider NEWB question.........

Im new to the sport and a large rider. I am 6'2" 275 pounds.......I have waterskiied all my life and I was a skateboarder when I was young as well as played college football so I am still athletic and feel like I can handle this sport.....my biggest problem is finding a board that is the right size.....can you push me in the right direction ?? I was looking at a Ronix One 146cm (my son has the Ronix One 142). I have been told that this is a good all around board. Any suggestions for a beginner board that I wont have to upgrade soon and that will also fit me would be a great help.

I am still new but I have been demo'ing boards all summer, I can tell you that so far I really have not been able to tell the difference from one to another with the exeption of the size. I am 220 and a 137cm was to small. I liked all the 140 and bigger boards. For the money I choose to go with the HL state 140, but it also comes in a 145, its a good price and has Asymetric fins to assist you on your toeside edging. Between the Imperial, Pulse, Apex, One and State, I liked the state the best for the money. I just bought a 2007 state for $139.00 from Evo.

a Ronix One 146 would probably work. Those are nice boards. If you were lookin at savin some money they you could just go with the deals they put up on evo. Thats where i picked up my shane. Anyboard will work if you're just starting. A Hyperlite Era are solid boards, Evogear.com has a 147 which would be perfect for you. check it out. Good luck

I would like to buy a board that I wont have to upgrade if I do get better......I am going to be limited in tricks and what nots but I would like to W2W jump and stuff like that.....simple stuff so would any of the boards listed here be good ???

Please explain the length as it pertains to larger riders.....in other words , the larger the rider the bigger the board should be ??? It seems that the difference in a 143 and a 146 would be huge or am I totally off base ??

The Ronix One.....is it stable for a beginner ??? My son has that board and he loves it so I know it works and hes a beginner but within two weeks he was W2W jumping and doing grabs and stuff and is working on a 180 jump.....he is progressing nicely. We have a Yamaha LS2000 jet boat and when we put everyone in the back it puts out a nice wake. Is that a decent boat for wakeboarding ???

If the boat that your usin puts up a good wake then you are good man. You can check out a sizing chart at http://www.evogear.com/info/helpcenter/163.aspx
If you dont have a tower on the boat, that would be a good investment! there is a difference.

And the hyperlite Era is a good board for you. check it out and read on it. its a 147 so it would fit you perfectly considering you weigh 275. It would put you higher out of the water with more surface area. If you go down to a 143 then youwill have a hard time landing jumps and what not, your board wont land as soft. A 146 would also work. Search for boards around that size range and read the descriptions, they will tell you the certain specs on a board.

Noone can really tell you what board to get since most are personal prefrence.

My opinion is the 146 ronix one. If you wanna save $100 go with the Era.
