Anybody have or use one? Pro's/Con's etc? My mom wants to buy one for my wife's b-day, but I don't have a clue about them. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

| I have one from performance. It is a cheaper model but I love it. It has an adjustment lever plus you can increase resistance using a higher gear. Mine was 40 bucks used. You can get new ones for less than $150. Depending on the budget you can get some pretty sweet trainers you can hook up to your computer, vary resistance based on a pre-programmed routine. I have experienced great gains in riding performance ever since I've been using my trainer regularly. |

Get fluid if you can.
Performance usually has the best prices. _________________

chavez, are fluid's quieter? Is that the only advantage. Looking for an inexpensive one that the bearings wont blow out after 20 hours (Heard that is an issue). _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

oshensurfer, fluid is quieter, but it also has (naturally) linear resistance - i.e. the harder/faster you pedal the harder it is to pedal. To an extent it simulates wind resistance. _________________

| I think the fluid trainers are smoother also. I like the mag trainer because it has resistance you can control with the lever as well as resistance that increases with wheel speed. I have a cheaper model and I don't find the noise to be a problem. I live in a single story house though and usually watch tv or listen to music at an elevated level while training. I would also recommend getting a mat to put down under the bike to collect sweat and save your flooring. It also helps with sound. |

I have a Cyclops Fluid, set of Steel Rollers and a CompuTrainer...
The Computrainer is the best, but then it's some $$$
Go Fluid. _________________
