i always want to throw tricks from w2w but i can't seem to get the w2w consistently.
until this past week i only really landed w2w a few times.. this week i landed it 3 times in one session.. i know thats super weak .
i have been able to progress pretty much as far as i seem to be able to on one wake tricks. i can throw a lot of back rope hand grabs. but just terrible front hand ones. and 180s and last year i was able to land 2 one wake 360's which got me pretty stoked.
this year. actually just this week. i built a makeshift wakeboard pylon. it has been nice. with out much effort i have landed on the crest of the wake almost every try. if i put effort and a progressive edge i am able to make it w2w thus the three.
when i do go w2w i never fly out into the flats. so i have no idea what that is like. and i reaaally want to.
and when i do go w2w i don't throw a trick..
one of my favorite things for me to do on a wakeboard is throw a big tail grab. i just think they look good but classy.
i guess my question is first.. how do you get to the point where you can just fly out into the flats? how hard do you have to charge? I can throw a back flip on a tramp; into a pool; off 6 foot cliffs into water; should i be able to easily transfer that to a wakeboard into a tantrum? what do i need to be able to do to learn a tantrum? i really just want to progress in the form of inverts. i dont think i would be able to do a back roll just yet.. i think since i can already do a backflip its a similar rotation in a tantrum. thus easier for MY first invert.
any help with my assortment of questions? |

well, with going into the flats. It's a pretty tough thing to do if you're riding a short rope and at a slow speed.
If you're riding a longer rope that allows you to cut further away from the wakes and thus more time to build a harder edge when you cut back, plus, speeding up makes the wakes narrower and helps you to carry more speed with your edge into the wake.
I read somewhere that randall harris rides between 28 and 30mph on a ~90' rope so he can go big into the flats.
one of the hardest things with inverts is simply commitment. Being comfortable upside down and prior experience with flips really help with commiting to these tricks. I think with time you'd be able to transfer all that back flipping experience to the wakeboard; however, i'm not sure how 'easily' you'll be able to do it.
here's some helpful tips with the tantrum

| why does a longer rope help? just because you can cut harder in both directions? |

bvanderwoerd, not necessarily harder. but a longer rope will let you cut further away from the wake, in turn, providing you with more time to build up an edge and carry more speed into the wake. _________________ Wake Forest University |

Whats the deal with bass69? Someone needs to tell him he cant come onto a wakeboard forum and criticize Randall Harris. _________________ burrrap |

Someone also needs to tell bass69 that most of the members of this forum are black, and that we are all offended. _________________
