Guys,

I'm definitely going with either Zeus, Faction or Torq Hinge Bindings.... First board/binding purchase and looking for good value that will last a few years.

Any huge difference between 2008 and 2007? The CWB descriptions of the Zeus imply the 2008 is much lighter?

Any/all insights on these three models and the two production years are much appreciated!

The 2008 boots are much lighter. They used a narrower plate and the materials themselves are lighter. The new heel piece is now just a one piece system (lighter and more comfortable). Also the Zeus is now a close toe boot (unless you go Limited Edition). Simply put the 2008 boots are a lot nicer than the 2007. The 07's are good but the 08's are through the roof and IMO more durable.

The boots you are comparing are very different in terms of performance. The Zeus is the top of the line ultra supportive pro boot. The Faction is a little less supportive and has an open toe. The Torq is a more beginner boot and will fit a range of feet where the others are more foot specific. Personally I use the 08 Answer and think its the perfect combination of support and flexibility and has the closed toe and the switch hinge, which I am a fan of. Hard to go wrong with any of em, I'd lean towards the higher end if they are just for you.

Stephan,

Thanks. I'll be sharing these with my Son and his friends who aren't regular wakeboarders, so I think the Faction and Torq are the way to go. One thing though, it doesn't appear the 2008 Torq's use the "6-Plate" system (or at least CWB doesn't mention it anywhere on their site), so I'm wondering if the 2008 Torq really is nicer than the 2007?

Yeah you are spot on with that assessment. The higher end boot went with the narrow plate and the Torq's are largely unchanged from 07. There is a reason why they are the highest selling boot in the industry, the Torq is inexpensive, durable and does it's job well.

Torq is basically unchanged for 08. Great binding for the price. The Zeus and Faction have both been redesigned, and I'd definitely go for the 08 versions of those if you're considering either one of those.
