When I was researching how to build a tower I ran into this article. I have searched this forum and found someone that had made one like it and PM them but never received a response.
Does anyone have the PDF document that he talks about that has the layout?
Thanks for your help! _________________ Beginner

I think it may just inspire me to create my own design. _________________ Beginner

I don't have the layout, but I followed those exact instructions to make my speaker box.
I changed up the design to what I wanted (2 speakers instead of 4) and just tried to make mine look similar.
It turned out great, but I'd never do it again. It was a lot of work, mostly because I have limited experience with fiberglassing. I had a friend that works at a body shop mix up a custom colour for me and paint it. That saved me a ton of time (and money).
I had my machinist make me some clamps to attach it to the tower and it allows me to just turn a couple handwheels to take the whole thing off and put it on.
Sanding the fiberglass was the biggest nightmare. My body shop friend ended up finishing the sanding for me as I didn't do a good enough job.
I probably spent well over 50 hours sanding.
It was worth it though. It looks incredible, and sounds awesome. In total, I think it cost me about $200 including the pair of 6x9 speakers (ebay). |
