|
|
been eyeing the slingshot recoil 142 for awhile now. but was told there not good for useing behind the boat. more for cable parks and sliders and such.
i rode a responce 137 and really liked its light weight. without the cost of a merek or something. anyway dont want this to become a "why not try this board" thread, i really like everything about the recoil 142.
what is the forums opinion on riding a slingshot behind the boat only?
wake pop? i noticed with the flat bottom they are allitle looser than im used to but that can be worked on.
any and all thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I ride the Recoil behind the boat every day and love it. Tons of pop and the landings are awesome.
Who told you that it wasn't good for behind the boat? _________________ www.slingshotwake.com

awesome. what length do you ride? and what height/weight are you?
what other boards did you ride before it?
if you had to find something you DONT like about the slingshot what would it be?
my instructor eric is the one that told me. it was his responce 137 i rode. hes in this vid. hes a diehard LF Watson rider.

I ride the 42 and I'm 6'2" 175. I rode the HL Premier before the Recoil.
The one thing that I didn't like about it were the fins it came stock with. They were way to big. I got the smallest fins I could get for it.
Hope that helps. _________________ www.slingshotwake.com

hehe... i was kinda wondering the same thing. lol!
but, i have the 142 recoil & it is definitely a board for behind the boat. i'll never go back to "conventional" boards. flex is for real. i used to only go w2w because my knees couldnt take the pounding of the flats, but that's changed since i've been riding slingshot. i'm all about it & have converted several diehards over. the only thing i dont like is the fins. they constantly strip out. i switched to some metal hyperlite .7 s & they work great. problem solved. |

lol i said i was intrested in it (eyeing) didnt say i bought it. window shoping FTW!
and i dont plan on being broke forever lol. im self employed so my financial situation is a roller coaster. no constant pay check. its been slow for the last few months, but some work is starting to come in so im hoping to have some extra soon.
now that the e drama is cleared up
thats great to hear. seems like there are folks out there boat riding these boards and loving them. sucks about the fins though. i was hoping to get away from the heavy aluminum fins.
maybe when the 09s come out the 08s will be on ebay for cheap. _________________

Those will kill your pop for sure. It's like having 20lb dumbbells strapped to your board.
Dude. Seriously, you just got hooked up with a setup from the wakeboarder.com community because you said you couldn't afford one yourself. Unless you're going to send the stuff you got for free back, or pass it on to someone else on here that doesn't have a setup, I don't want to hear about you buying a new anything. |

Yeah, sounds just like window shopping to me. And presumably your instructor Eric is just handing out free lessons cos he didn't want your season to be "over".
I was pretty pumped about that thread when it came out. But frankly that whole "board pulling together to help some poor guy out" thing leaves a pretty sick taste now somehow.
What a load of BS.

ug i give up. i tryed to be nice about the slandering.
i never asked for anything, i just posted a story/experience of mine.
and ive done nothing wrong. i was asking info about a board, what this site is for, ive bought nothing.
and i just dont appreciate the accuazations. chuck and jeff please send me your addresses. i would rather send these back and not ride than my fellow boarders think im some kind of shady character. thats not who i am. my integrity and the respect of my peers means alot more to me than a day on the lake. no one knows the type of guy i am, well except Ed (flixmaster), has know me for over 10 years now.
i consider my self the most honest, nicest straight shooter out there.
i was just asking for some info, i cant afford a board right now but i will someday. i was enjoying the heck out of being back on the water, and was VERY grateful and suprised by those who made that possible. i will for ever be thank ful to them. of all places i didnt think a wakeboard forum would have drama instigators. _________________

Jesus dude. Quit whining. So you got called out because you made a bonehead move and started talking about buying a board a matter of weeks after getting hooked up with a free setup - one that was given to you because of the implication that you couldn't afford to buy one this season.
Instead of being all melodramatic and crying that your going to just quit riding, why don't you just offer to give the setup you got for free to someone who needs it when and if you get a new one. To some people, that may help you retain some credibility.
To me, it just seems like a slap in the face to start talking about getting something new this season. Maybe you should think a little more about how the stuff you post up here may appear to other people.... |

A newer board isn't gonna make that big of a difference with your riding. If you ride a board with heavy fins now just edge really hard and don't let it up, you will get good pop. Then next year when you do have enough money for a new one, you will get more air B/C your used to edging really hard.
Just don't whin n whimp over internet. |

| stang-- it doesnt bother me. if ur in a better financial status & can get another setup, go for it. just remember the good will & pay it forward. i will say that until u learn the technique, it doesnt matter what ur riding. save the money until u can go w2w hs & ts. when i started playing golf i went crazy & dropped a chunk on custom fitted everything. it didnt make an ounce of difference in my game. i felt like a huge jackass. long story short: learn the basics first. if u cant go w2w, u cant truly know how a board rides. good luck & stick with the lessons! |

on the sligshot note, i hated the slingshot...pop sucked and the landings were even worse. so for me, no, i wouldn't get it as a boat-only board. for sliders, maybe.
on the 'getting a board for free because you couldn't afford one but now you can so you're thinking of buying one,' well, that's your problem. karma will bite you in the ass though and i doubt the people here will sympathize as soon as it gets you. _________________ my demo reel

I think the people passing judgement on stang have some karma headed their way. Have you never thought you couldn't afford something and then found yourself spending a lot of $$$ on it just a few weeks or months later? Gee, I know that's happened to me with wakeboarding gear way too many times for me to count.
If I recall, his original story was that his board got busted up on the road. I'd definitely question whether wakeboarding was a worthwhile investment if I lost my gear in a nasty freak accident. Then some people hook him up on gear (stoke), he gets a sweet boat (super stoke), and all that stoke probably made him start drooling over new gear.
All I know is that when I want something pretty bad, it's usually not very hard to figure out how to get money by rearranging my finances.
That said, I do think learning the basics on his current board would be a smart move. |

Wow you guys are really harsh. I remember him saying he would pass the board on when he was in a better financial status, and he just re-iterated it here in this thread. Good God you guys are like on a witch hunt to call any unsuspecting victim out for the tiniest thing _________________

This is absolutly right guys. Calm down, he said it would be sweet to be able to pass it on even before you guys jumped all over him. I don't think he has done anything wrong by asking a WAKEBOARDING forum about a new WAKEBOARD. And if I remeber the original thread correctly he didn't even ask for help, just shared an experience that sucked and two guys were kind enough to help out, I'm sure both of those guys would be stoked to see he finally is startin to get the cash to hook him self up with a new setup.
