IMO at the beginner stage the size of the board isn't that big of a deal. i learned on a 141 when i was 10 years old. I'm not familiar with the board but if its an agressive board with small fins it could be an issue since it could have a more slippery feel. But its good practice.

For your toeside edge simply lean the way you want to go and hold the rope at your waist level.

Toeside carving is all about being able to put the rope on your lead hip and then twist your lower body. When I do it, I try to think about leaning out over the edge and pushing both heels toward the wake.

you'll be able to learn the basics on that board. i weigh 185 and have a 143 and my sister, who weighs 140, still rides it. the only problem is with a board that big, maneuvers will be a little tougher to make. if you're really serious about the sport, you will definitely need a smaller board and bindings. but like its stated before, the bigger board is great for practice.

and its funny about your toe side edge because my sister has that exact same problem. but like i said, the board is big and will take a little more effort to move for your size.
