i went to take the boat out yesterday for an evening cruise. when I went to turn the stereo on it did not power up. i took the face plate off and it looked like there was a little water lurking around. we had some severe thunderstorms sun night here in ny but i do have a cover on the boat. i noticed a reset button which i pressed and suddenly i had power to the head unit but none of the functions on the stereo worked. finally i was able to load a cd which played but not able to control the volume... its a sony marine stereo so i would think that a little water shouldnt do damage, even though i know im dealing with electronics. im hoping that once the little bit of water dries out everything will be ok. basically i find it strange that i was able to get power but nothing on the stereo worked. it went through the initial set up mode on the stereo but that was it.

Does it act like the buttons are functioning correctly? You said the face folded down. Sometimes the contacts from the face to the base get messed up and the faceplate wont work right.

I've had luck letting them dry out when faced with these symptoms. Removed outer casing & lightly blew out with compressed air.
When one of my Sony marine decks would not power on at all, this did not work.
