I was out on my friends boat, and he asked me to post on here. He has a Wakesetter 23 LSV. We were riding on the boat, and it ran fine, then we stopped to pick up someone and cut the engine off. When we went to turn it back on, the motor wouldn't start or ever crank at all for that matter. What could be the problem? Is it the battery? Or could it be the starter too?

If it's the battery, would it be located under the spotter seat? Or is that the accessory one?

sounds like the starter to me. you can smack it with a hammer to see if it is stuck or possibly short it with a wrench, but it will be worth the $100 just to have it rebuilt

Chad H, best bet is to get an multi-meter and check the voltage at the battery (all of them if he has more than 1.) If that is good, then check to see that the starter is getting power. Does the starter make any noise?

Before getting too carried away, is it possible that someone bumped the kill switch by accident? This is where I always start with a problem like this.

Did you make sure to put the throttle in neutral? Smile

Second for throttle in neutral, sounds like the most likely culprit. Boat won't even turn over if you're engaged. I've got a $10 spot on neutral fix Razz

I've done that more than once. It's so embarrassing when you realize it!

Embarassed

Alright... It was nothing of the above. The repair guys came out to find a ground wire on the battery wasn't connected. They connected it and off we went riding. Very Happy

True for some boats, but not for others. I've seen some that will do nothing, while others will just crank but the fuel pump won't pump.

Either way, glad it was a simple fix for you.
