Anyone got any news on the pre 2006 SAN 210 hull? Is it still mothballed? surely they must be thinking of bringing it back one day... I sure would love to see it back on the water...

Brit Rider, doubt it. CC has a bunch of hulls that they "could" bring back such as the 2001. (I know they claim to have destroyed the molds, but seriously, it wouldn't be that hard for them to find an old hull and make a few new molds.)

I too would love to see them making a pre-06 (I hated the changes made in 06) 210, but I guess if they're selling everything they can make, why would they waste their time making a cheaper boat like the old 210?

If they would put a v-drive in an old 2001 hull and sell them for under $30k they would make a killing.

They just need to increase their building capacity.

No one ever thought they should just setup a new operation down the road building boats out of their old hulls under another name? Sea Ray do something similar with a company called 'Rae Line'.

Why not just setup 'brand x' within the correct craft group of companies and establish another brand totally independent of Correct Craft? The hulls/decks are proven so why not milk them a bit more....

Brit Rider, CC does a lot of things that I don't understand. I think they are somewhat of an eccentric company...

No reason other than they want to move on and not "look back" at old technology.

I wonder if you could make a mold out of the old boat and then start making them. Are their hulls patented?

I'm not an expert on patent law, but yeah I'm guessing the hulls are patented. I'm honestly not sure though on if those patents eventually run out, I know that they do with drugs. (Thus why there are generic brands of pharmaceuticals.)

Brit-rider, maybe we can start up a manufacturing plant in china where patent laws are pretty much non-existent there. Laughing

Maybe we can call it the "1002 Euqituan." Laughing Laughing

I'm sure you could just modify it a bit (maybe even improve it) and it would be different enough.

With gas prices it would really be ideal if you could manufacture it with ballast and everything, a small boat and then run it off an electric engine. With the right prop you don't need a V8 to pull 1000#s of ballast and a 19 ft boat.

It would be the true riders boat.

the batteries required to move an electric 19' boat electric motor would be heavier the V8. and the cost of the motor would be 10x+ greater
i do alot of electric RCs. the tiny batteries for those are $80-300 bucks and the big esc and motors are running 4-5-600 hundred bucks. and they fit in your hand. imagine what that size motor would cost.

STANG KILLA SS, heavier wouldn't be a problem, as you could just lessen the amount of ballast. So you think an electric motor that would move a boat (for at least 6 hours) would cost you $30k? I wonder how much the engine they use for the Tesla is. I would guess more than $30k since they're selling it for $100k. Most of that money would go toward the engine/batteries.

Ok, so maybe not feasible at this time with the electric engine.

Anyone else thinking:

hull 'similar' to 210, plus 6" freeboard. LPG powered V8 (300+ hp, half the price to run than gasoline), basic but comfortable seating, storage and ballast.

$30k out the door....

sounds like an idea to me.

Where are you going to get LPG?

You'd still have to include ballast, perfect pass, tower and racks. But I bet you could make a good profit and still sell it at $30k if you built enough of them.

I'm really confused as to why the big i/o manufacturers haven't jumped on this market segment.

Brit Rider, Sounds like a a good idea but LPG is $2.70 a gallon here only a dollar less than gas. What about the engine they put in the toyota epic?

I was working on some patent stuff a few months ago and ran across several cc patents. There notorious for patenting everything. They hold most of the original patents like the wakeboard tower and the board rack.Several of them where hull design patents but I didn't look at them.

Wakebrad, Sorry wasn't thinking too straight there - LPG is readily available at service stations here and in many countries of Europe (its also really cheap). Didn't realise its not as readily available there....

Brit Rider, I researched this with my boat lately. You have to get a 250 gal tank installed at your house and have someone fill it up when it is low. I don't think I have ever seen a propane filling station.

vette74, really? We just take our tanks to our local LPG station, come back in about 2 hours (6 tanks), and we're set.

Thinking about it... don't most forklift trucks over there run on propane? Surely you could just head to your local propane dealer and pick up some propane bottles.....

I have been to a propane filling station but not a drive up one like they have pics of on the internet that you can fill your own car up with. haugy, You can but all the places I called they always charge you to fill up an empty bottle even if you have some propane in it.
I was thinking about converting my boat over to propane but it really wouldn't save me that much money. I was thinking about getting about 5 or so propane bottles for a forklift and take out my gas tank and ski locker and connecting them all together but at the end of the day they would charge me full price to fill up each tank. I would have to get a 250 gallon tank at my house but then if I take the boat out of town for the weekend I am limitied to how much propane I can take.

I didn't realise you couldn't just go up to the gas station and guy LPG from a bowser over in the states. No wonder it isn't seen as a viable alternative by most people.

vette74, Thats the difference to the UK - its far mroe readily available here.

and they'll come and put a big tank at your house FOC so long as you use a certain amount each month - not an issue if you and a friend run on Propane Smile

Or just rent some bottles.. Like Brit Rider says, LPG is just availble at every petrol station. It's a must when petrol almost hits $10,- a gallon at the regular petrol station and more the $11,- in the harbour.

Laptom, how long does a bottle like what you have pictured last? Is that an entire weeks worth of fuel shown in the picture?

Laptom, You bet your ass I will be doing it then. I figured it would cost me about $1200 to rig my boat out to run on propane. It is not really worth the $1.00 a gallon I would save.

This thread again?

Smile

While the 210 is not being resurrected as you are thinking, and I can't really imagine a situation where they'd do what you're saying (although I personally think it is a good idea) there is something non-210 related happening for 2009 that will impress & surprise you.

I've had my head in the sand in regards to wakeboarding the last 2 years for the most part, but what the heck happened to the 210? I started wakeboarding back in '97, and started looking for a wakeboard boat shortly after. The 210 was all the rage, or the supersport or whatnot, but the 210 team edition was the boat to have. Between Mastercraft shifting away from the X-star/X-2/X-1 (I guess it is now), and now the 210 being discontinued, what is going on with the wakeboard boat industry?

Makes me feel really old at 24.

mrbill, haha yup!

Times are changing real fast now.... seems like the days of keeping a hull in production for 15+ years are numbered!

You mean the 06 and earlier Super Sport/210 hull.
And no I can't add more clues.

You can wakeboard 1.2 hour on each bottle (6 gallons). We had 16 bottles for that weekend! It was a good weekend Wink .

I don't think the "old" 210 hull comes back. Why would they? The new 210 and 230 are filling up their demands.

I heard the same rumors for 2009. I hope not to much will come true otherwise we could upgrade again Crying or Very sad !
