|
|
Due to a set of red-tape circumstances, I need to destroy my current cell phone. I need to damage/destroy it in such a way as to not indicate water damage nor clear cracking. I simply need to fry it.
The reasons are many. The story - boring. But with this phone out of my life in the form of being destroyed, I will be moved to a different device which is what I've needed to begin with.
So - tips? Microwave? Oven? Let my kid drop it repeatedly and perhaps teeth on it? Can any electrical engineers give me some tips on how to smoke this thing without showing any outside damage?
I don't consider this to be illegal as this was exactly what a rep that I schmoozed recommended I do. He was not willing to tell me how to do it, but he told me to do it nonetheless.
Your help on this is appreciated in advance.

Power on; freezer for one hour; beat it on counter; 200F oven for 15 minutes; beat it on counter; freezer for one hour; beat it on counter; 200F oven for 15 minutes; beat it on counter
If it works after that, you should just keep it. _________________

i would prolly "brick" it by updating the software on the phone the wrong way. but that all depends on the type of phone it is. _________________

Don't microwave it unless you want to buy a new microwave.
Extreme hot and cold like tball said should do the trick. I do like the 120 idea. |

The temp cycling won't work.. Trust me when I tell you that the reliability requirements for the components exceed that which have been outlined here. You could temp cycle more extremely, but I doubt you have the ability to get it cold enough, and if you get it hot enough, the housing, etc. willl probably melt first.
I would also recommend sending 120V through it. |

120v can cause some circuits to explode, causing a rattling sound. in rare cases, it may even be able to melt. he said it needs to be ninjafied, so i still say you brick it.
whats the phone type? |

| if you can open the casing and take the guts out, you can drop them into a glass of rubing alcohol. the liquid should jack up the electronics enough to render them useless and when you take it out, the alcohol will evaporate and leave no trace. |

there are stickers in place to show that the case has been opened. also, the water sticker will turn red b/c alcohol has water in it. and rubbing alcohol wont do anything but clean it, i have saved many phones dropped in the water by washing them out with alcohol _________________

| A good friend of mine broke her phone by shocking it after going down a slide. It had no visible damage but it wouldn't even turn on. Put on some socks and shuffle around on some carpeting and hope that works. |

Bingo, but it doesn't even need to be extremely high voltage... To see if it would work, I connected a USB cord to an iPod charger then into my phone... It fried it, even with a change of battery it wouldn't turn on.... |

To an electronic device, 120v is extremely high. And will do the job _________________ http://www.integrity-wake.com

1.open it up and snip a few wires
2.hook it up to a battery on the charging leads to fry the circuits.
3.drop it in alcohol _________________ Lanexa VA |
