I picked up a CWB Tempest board today from Dicks, which as far as I can tell is the only shop around where I live that sells boards, and I'm cautiously optimistic.
First off, the price tag hanging off the board said Tempest 135, but the small UPC code said Tempest 141 so I don't really know which one it is.
Second issue is the bindings. It came with CWB Seven bindings. I don't know exactally how tight they should fit but it feels tight. I wear a size 12-13 depending on who's selling the shoe. Boardstop.com lists the Seven L/XL bindings as Mens 9-13+, but another website listed it as 9-12. Either way I'm hanging on to the edge there. Is there a better set of bindings for my foot size? Since there's no board shop in my area, that I know of, I can't really try the damn bindings on so I have to trust websites and your advice. BTW, when I tried the bindings on I was in the tub with the water running so everything was wet. It was still tight but I was able to slip in.
Third, is there a shop in my area I don't know about? I live in the Northern Virginia Area and I go down to the Northern Neck Area of VA to get on the water. Anyone know of a shop? |

Well first off check the board. Somewhere on it, there should be a size written on the graphics.
Second, The Sevens are size 9-13. If i were you i would get the CWB Torq bindings size XXL (12-14).
Finally, why dont you buy a board online? _________________ Also Calskater23 |

| I guess the experience of walking into a store and having the physical experience of touching an item is something I prefer. However, the board itself I'm less concerned about. I'm more concerned with the bindings as I'd like to make sure they fit properly. |

Okay pretty much as long as your toe isn't hanging over the edge you should be good. What size shoe do you wear? _________________ Also Calskater23 |

I wear 12 or 13. My toe isn't hanging over edge so I guess that's OK. I assume with use it'll loosen up. I've heard about something called "slime" which is a binding lubricant I assume. Where do I pickup binding lubricant? Is there a common substance I can buy that does the same thing?
P.S. I'm not buy KY from the local drugstore, so forget about that one. |

Toe shouldn't hang over the edge of the bottom of the binding or the board?? |

From personal experience, CWB Slime is probably the worst thing invented.
It is environmentally safe, as that is advertised on the bottle, but if you are using a boat rather then a cable park, it is absolutely miserable. Slime washes off in the water, and I have CWB Fuse bindings, and they are awful on my feet, I pretty much 'adjusted' them for them to not feel like there was the hulk on my feet, but even with that, I used Slime for a little bit to lubricate the insides to help my foot slide in, but the problem was, once it was in, how was I getting out?
I probably twisted my ankle two times trying to get it out, and that was when I stopped using Slime. It didn't lubricate it enough so that it was easy entry either, I mean, the Fuse is probably the tightest binding around, so it's kind of an extreme, but since I assume the board is in water when you are putting it on, it really offers nothing since it washes off pretty much instantaneously.
The best approach is either hand soap if entry is just your failure, or petroleum jelly for situations like mine when it is hard to get in and out, since petroleum jelly never fails to stay on, even in water. |

if you have the hinge bindings just get them wet and slide your foot in. I wear size 13 but my foot isnt very wide..I tried on the seven's in L/XL and they felt way too loose so i bought the S/M's and they fit very snug. The tips of my toes hang over the edge a little bit but that doesnt matter to me, they never touch the water. _________________ Lake Shelbyville, IL |
