Two 15's under the bow, three amps with two thousand watts of power, 2- 6x9s, 6- 6 1/2"s, four tweeters, and a 10 disc MP3 player gets the job done. Of course I had to put in two Optima deep cycle batteries and a 150 amp alternator to keep up. Everyone on the lake listens to whatever I want. Have fun doing your own.

They are the 8000s. They sound great. I had 6000s and hated them, don't waste your money. I don't know what MTX did to them but the 6000s are real weak.

I'm running 150 watts to the tower with a high pass crossover. If the tower speakers are all you have, 6x9"s would be considerably louder, but they would also be heavier. To accomodate the larger speakers the enclosure will be bigger and some towers don't like that much weight without a lot of flex. Your boat, your choice! I personally would run some other speakers in the boat as well. I figure the tower speakers are for everybody else on the lake, but the speakers in the boat are for you. I turn down my tower when we are parked and rock out the boat. It's easier to bullsh*t with friends without a speaker right at ear level.

what can flex do to a tower? we just bought one of the new models from skyline so thats should hold pretty tight. are your speakers 150 watt max power or are you running them at the rms? sorry for all the questions i just want this system to kick ass, i already found the speakers i am gonna get for the tower, they are the new sony xplod for about 100 a pair.
Does anyone else run 6x9 tower speakers that know are way louder?
thanks for all the help everyone Smile

In a boat tweeters are a waste, the sounds imaging is way to open. I have 4 tower speakers two facing back two forward with a 1050 rf powring it. Then i have two jl audio subs with 1000bd rf powering them then just 4 pioneer 3 way premier speakers with a 750x rf powering them. Pioneer premeir mp3 headunit with the 4 volt preout (only way to go for good pur sound). Very loud and sounds very good! best of all it never overheats in 110 plus river heat

Not quite a month. I've had two buyers, but when it comes time to pay there is always a BS problem. Hopefully it will go soon, I have about three different people trying to get loans at the same time. I guess the first one with the money wins.

My profile shows the enclosure that I built for my tower set up. Very happy with it, let me know if you are interested in something like it.
