whats the difference between an agressive 3 stage rocker, and a progressive 3 stage rocker, i noticed that the lyman has a progresive and the watson has an agressive, but the lyman has more rocker. could some one enlighten me
the aggressive vs progressive thing refers to the angle at which the stages of the rocker change. An aggressive board will have a larger tail and nose kick effectively, where as a progressive board will have a smooth transition between the base nose and tail of the board.
For example, my old byerly had a flat (ish) base and then the tail and nose kicked up abruptly at 2.7 degree inclinations (i believe). A progressive board may infact have a large degree inclination but the transition would be less abrupt.
The difference when riding progressive and aggressive boards is most noticeable when jumping the wake. An aggressive board will buck you up into the air where as a progressive rocker will be give you a smoother - less intense pop into the air.
Personally i find that i can olly higher flat on a progressive board, but i prefer the buck of an aggressive rocker when hitting the wake.
