I got out on the lake for the first time this year today. I've been reading this board for several weeks trying to figure out how to improve my wakeboard skills. The one thing that I know I am not doing correctly is progressive edging. I think that I'm too used to being able to use the fins to turn, so they are going to come off for next weekend.

Last season I was riding an Obrien Diesel that had some pretty serious fins. Today I was riding a Ronix One. I did notice that I had a difficult time even getting as far outside the wake as I did on the old board, I think this might be because the fins are not as substantial.

So now I need to learn to use the edge of the board to turn, and I think that I need to lean back more to do it, but I'm not sure.

I didn't spend too much time at it today, the water was too cold, 54 degrees. Shocked

Can any of you show me pictures of a person edging with their board?

I am interested to see if you can find a picture of that, but I will keep an eye on this list to see if something pops up...

Yah defiantly take off the fins, will help your skills a TON! I did it and noticed a huge difference. I don't know of any pics, but just dig your heels waaaaay into the water.

wake223, you got it. You need to turn by leaning. This comes fairly natural for the heelside edge but on the toeside it takes more balance. Taking your fins off will force you to learn to ride on your edge. It can be really tricky to start but will help you a lot in the long run.
