I tried a couple of these over the weekend. I keep overrotating them. I do the same edge in as a backroll then when I am inverted I let go with my left hand (I am left foot forward). I always seem to land and slip out. Is the way to fix this the same as it is for a backroll? In other words, just keep your hands further from your hips when you are rotating to slow down your rotation.

Your rotation should slow down plenty when you open your hips to go to revert. Are you slipping out on your heels?
If you are over-rotating, wait a bit longer after the pop to initiate the roll. That should help you take it bigger as well. |

Yes, it is heelside. I forgot to specify. I am slipping out on my heels. I will try your suggestions when I ride in an hour or so thanks guys.

i would just say to open your chest more to the boat on the takeoff. let go with your left hand about half way through and spot your landing. it's an easy landing to spot. don't throw it too hard though...i throw mine about 20% less hard than i do my backroll because this is such a smooooooth rotation and it will keep you from slipping out. just a few of my tips.

You don't throw it as hard? I was trying to throw it harder which may explain some of my problem. I am having a lot of trouble getting the hang of this trick, but I did stick my first toe 5 today so today was a good day of boarding all in all.

I did the same exact thing learning roll to reverts..my problem was not looking for the water early enough. As you're coming out of the rotation make sure you spot the water, and land on your toes. This should help you slow down your rotation just enough to land it perfectly. congrats on the 5.
