On my top deck last night in Cedar Park, gazing north watching the storm roll in, glass of Crown in my hand, awesome lightning show....
Wedge apprears, Funnel cloud forms, grab my new Nikon D60,.....
I can't figure out how to get it out of autofocus, will not fire, miss shot......
I suck. Where is my $50 point-n-shoot? |

| for the quick fix, flip the switch on the lens (if it has one). I just bought a remote to make extended exposures easier. I can't wait to catch some lightening. |

jt09, last time I was in Dallas there was a heck of a cool t-storm late one night. I just kicked it on my balcony and watched the thing, it was sweet.
But I don't want to see one while moving my bro's crap in! _________________

mostly golf ball size, some baseball/racquetball sized
it was a pretty isolated storm - ripped right through the center of town leaving sw austin and n austin untouched. |

We did not get any hail in Forest Oaks (excluding the occasional pea sized pellet)
I just went out for a coffee and there was a lot of tree damage in Avery Ranch from the hail. It was about quarter sized there for a while.
It was the most lightning that I ever saw in my 10 years in TX. It was so constant that it sounded like...... must not say it..... must not say it....... a freight train. |

Yep. We didn't have any of the nasty stuff at my place. Skimmed just north of us.
Saw on the news, baseball size hail pics. _________________ (insert funny chit here) |

Your camera is based on the point-n-shoot concept. It just uses different lenses.
Really not that hard to figure out. You can use this site as a reference along with your instruction manual.
