First Ride of the year.

So today me and two buddies decided to deal with the cold and hit the lake. I get everything ready. Charge the battery just in case, hook the ipod up, bring the skoal. We get the boat off the trailer and its running fine. Since the water in illinois is very very chilly we decided to do dock starts. I get to go first because its my boat.

So I get on the dock, get strapped in. They toss me the rope and when the boat takes off it yanks me into the water and dies. So I fall into the very cold water and the boat cant come back and get me so I swam a few feet back and got to the dock. Its a very windy day so the boat starts to drift towards shore. All three of us get into the water and guide the boat back to the dock. We trailer it up and decide what to do.

The battery is the problem so we take the boat to my friends house and swap out the battery. We hook the prop up to a hose and start the engine no problem. So when we take the boat to the lake, and put it in the water...it doesnt start. No juice. So I get the great idea of backing the boat back far enough that only the prop is in the water(its an I/0). My friend drives his truck to the edge of the water just close enough to reach jumper cables to the battery from his truck. We jump it and she starts running.

So we try the dock start again. But this time it worked. I was actually riding for the first time of the year. This winter I put a tower on my boat and I wanted to try it out. Did a few wake jumps with ease and decided that I wanted to quit. Trying anything harder would have risked being very cold.

My friend tries to drive the boat close enough to the dock so that I can just grab onto it and pull myself up and not get soaking wet. Yeah that doesnt happen. Both my other friends go and we all end up having a great time. It seems like the first run of the year is always the most eventful.

i tried getting in the water in IN sunday but the storm didnt really help!

Ottowa this weekend though!

Im glad you got to ride though! Id be pissed to get wet and not actually get to do anything!

Good stuff. Try to get some pictures next time if ya can. I'll be heading out friday long as the weather isn't stormy. We've been out one time this year, but it was just behind a jon boat. This time we'll be behind a boat with an actual wake. Can't wait.
