Tonight i went and got GTAIV, and i got home and put it in, and it wasn't loading once it opened, so i turned my console off.

Turned it back on to get the red ring of death...

This is horrible timing. I haven't touched my xbox since before christmas and now it gives out.

that sucks, but be glad that xbox has a 3 year warranty. mine died and had a brand new one in 3 weeks.

Jensen, that all depends if his warranty is still in effect. Wink

The 360 was launched in november of 2005, so they are all still covered under warranty.

When mine broke, they hadn't yet implemented the 3 year warranty, so I had to pay $140 plus shipping to have mine repaired. After the 3 year warranty was put in place, they sent me a check for the $140 a few months later. My brother has been through 3 consoles already. The failure rates are really high, but at least they're fixing them for free.

Make sure you stay on top of it when you send it back. Mine took 3 months. That was because i don't play much so i called to have it sent back. Well the box never came to send it back in and i was busy with work. So finally i had some time and called again. They decided to delete my service request. Needless to say after about 15 minutes of cursing the servie rep guaranteed quick service. Within another week i had the new one again.

Dragonlady8, I think it's usually overheating that causes a connection on the motherboard to go south.

DRAGON88, wouldn't that be considered a design flaw and the replacement should be at least once in a lifetime instead of just 3yrs?

Not if the overheating is caused by dust buildup around the vents...then it's "user error."
