I cant find my manual right now and am having trouble downloading.

I have a Canon 30D which I have only used up till this point on auto. This weekend I talked to a photographer who put my camera on Manual (M) and showed me some pointers and for the rest of the day it was on this setting. Now when I plug the camera in I am only seeing this pictures that were taken on Auto and not the others.. are they in raw format and or do I need to buy another program to get them on the comp? I doesnt say a file extension so I am clueless....

BTW, this is my first DSLR as I have only had Sony DSC F707 in the past.

What are you looking at? Are they in a folder or on a program?

Here's something that may help. There's a comment about Jpeg and Raw.

When you open the Canon EOS folder you can see the thumbnails to the pictures that were taken on auto and the others had a landscape clip art. Not sure if I am expaining that right....

Sounds like he put it in raw also, and you don't have the program to view the thumbnails. Check your camera settings. You can use the supplied canon software to convert the raw files to jpegs. You can also download the ms raw viewer, if your on a pc. My advice, download and preview your pictures with EOS viewer utility, which came with your camera. At some point you will find a workflow(and subsequent programs) that work best for you, but the canon programs do a good job. DPP has great color conversion but a horrible interface.

ssrgeoff, sometimes it better to have a card reader. It's not recommended to transfer from the camera. (multiple) Card readers are fairly inexpensive.
