|
| I am thinking about picking up an iPhone, but keep hearing that a new one may be coming out in June with 3G and GPS... So, if this is true, I will wait. Has anyone heard of a more firm date? Info? |

| Dragonlady8, saw it... still haven't found anything I like more than the iPhone though. Wish it was on Verizon. |

i hear its more like September / October. Testing for the original iPhone took forever with AT&T and a new network technology will mean more complexity. Testing cycles are 2 to 3 months at least and if AT&T were testing it, it would hvae been leaked by now.
The inventory issues on the iphone are industry wide - underforecasting of smart phone sales and suppliers can't produce the components fast enough. _________________ www.highrollerwakeboarding.com |

From industry article
Yesterday we reported on Wall Street Journal technology columnist Wall Mossberg's prediction that the 3G iPhone would launch within 60 days. Today, Mossberg took back the prediction and convinced Silicon Valley Insider by asking:
"If I knew when this date was, why would I announce it in the middle of a sentence at the Finnish embassy, rather than report it in the Wall Street Journal?" Mossberg rhetorically asked the publication. He said he has no idea when Apple is releasing the iPhone and that the 60 day prediction was a "ballpark estimate" based on everything AT&T and Apple have already hinted at publicly. _________________ www.highrollerwakeboarding.com |

As tight lipped as Apple is regarding releases, there is no way any of us could give you good advice about whether to get the current one or get the next one.
Could be December, could be tomorrow.
My brother works for them and I'm sure knows the release schedule. He won't tell me a damn thing! Which is good, gotta respect the confidentiality agreements. _________________

ATT head dude of some sort guaranteed a 3g iPhone within 60 days.
June-ish is when everyone seems to be "expecting" it to drop. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

| Release date is June 10th. No, there is nothing out there announcing this. You will just have to trust me. |

| I've got the current version...I'd wait for the upgrade no matter how long it takes. Mine is ok but 3G, 16GB, and GPS will improve things nicely. FWIW, I've also got an AT&T air-card w/ 3G for my laptop and it's comparable with cable-based broadband for surfing. Pretty sick. |

| tball, I have a 60Gig Ipod, and have like 2000 songs on it and only use like 5 Gig of it. So, I was thinking I would only need like a 8 Gig Iphone. Do you recommend bigger? I see myself only having music, but maybe you have some video apps that would make me interested in more capacity. |

| churchy, not at all. 8G has been plenty for me so far, but I just recently started adding stuff like episodes of Arrested Development and Mitch Hedberg specials (each about 250MB). I've put some of the kids' cartoons (Backyardigans, Dora, etc) on there for waiting rooms and other painful places to be without entertainment. However, I've never used more than 5G either. I had wrongly assumed all of the new ones would be 16G...if they have 8G ones then no need dropping the extra cash if you don't need it! word. |

| I guess we will know the capacity of the new phones come 6/10, and I will most likely be pulling the trigger. |

| churchy, if you have an Apple computer, then i'd suggest you download the program Handbrake, which converts DVD's to iPod/iPhone format so you can watch them on there. and if you do end up watching movies on your iPhone then you'd probably want more than 8GB. just my 2 cents |
