These tiny things are a scam. They're designed by phone companies to make you believe you do not have something in your pocket when you put a load of clothes into the wash. Why can't they all still be bulging, as if to resemble an erection sprouting from your pocket? Those you would know were in your pocket. They just don't make them like they used to.
So anyways, my phone went through the wash. If I let it dry out for a month will it still work or am I SOL? _________________

I don't know about the washing machine but I've dropped about 5 different phones/pagers in the pool over the years. I immediately turn them off and let them dry out for 2 days. I take the battery out, put it back in and charge it then turn it on and they have worked every time.
The extra heat in the washer might complicate that though. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| why is your phone still in your pants pocket? the instant i walk into my house, the keys and the wallet come out of my pockets and go onto the dresser. the phone goes onto the living room table (it's on vibrate 100% of the time, so it needs to be near me). i hate anything in my pockets, and everything "lives" in the same place - always. home, car or work, the wallet, phone and keys are in the same exact place all the time. |

same, phone keys wallet come right out when i walk in the door. And yea, phone is usually on vibrate so its near me.... plus texting needs instant responses...
I think the soap might also mess things up a bit... give it a try maybe with a hair dryer? _________________ stay clean, like me

You can use a hairdryer only if you don't use any of the heat settings. _________________
8824, dude - I suck. You were right.
. |

| yep, rice works, but the best, IMO, is to go get a bowl (or glass or whatever) fill it with methylated spirits and chunk ya phone in there. it will help wash away the soap residue and will help it to dry way faster. successful on like 7 out of 9 phones so far =) |

i've been swimming with a couple phones and just immediatley take the battery out and set them out in the hot sun for a week or so. It may work but your set up for long term damage, the contacts on the PCB boards or whatever circuitry will start to rust over time and connect contacts that shouldn't be touching. after 3 months my phones front screen broke and i assume thats why.

JoeyJojo, Where can I pick some of that stuff up? Just pull the battery, throw it in and let it evaporate and dry? _________________

yeah, it is just 95% alcohol and the other % should be methanol. anything other than methanol can destroy the plastic. a drugstore shold have it. all you want is the highest concentration of ethyl or isopryl alcohol you can get. and all you want in the bottle with it is methanol. some of the other chems they denature alcohol with can be harmful to plastic. _________________

| Dragonlady8, you can use heat... I just wouldn't take it over about 85-100C. |
