Hi,

Anyone know of a program that will do a jpg reduction on an entire directory, saving them as a new file name? I am sick of doing this in paint, but wanted to see if someone had freeware, before I wrote code to do this. (I understand that google's picassa will do this, but I do not want to upload the images)

ie.. Change

one.jpg 3.8M
two.jpg 4.1M
...

To

one.jpg 3.8M
one_small.jpg 500k
two.jpg 4.1M
two_small.jpg 540k
...

Does GIMP (free photoshop ripoff) have Actions? If it does you could just create an action to reduce all the photos to a certain resolution.

This is the one I use. Does exactly what you're talking about.

howabouttheiris, Microsoft has a PowerToy that will do this. Do a Google search for XP Powertoys and look for the image resizer.

Works great, and is native.

GIMP does it. I think you may have to install a plugin to get it to work in batch mode, but that's what I use to reduce the size of photos.
