im going to make a wakeboard, going to get wood this weekend.

i was wondering if i should just make the board out of wood or if i should fiberglass it and put epoxy on it.

if its just wood it will have a smooth bottom like a slingshot board, i would like to put rails on it. i dont know how to do this or if its even worth doing.

im willing to put time into it since i wont be able to use it for a while but i cant spent too much money on it.

any help would be great.

Rails and channels on the bottom will be pretty difficult, you would probably have to sand them out or use a plainer, depending on what you have. Ive tried to make one before but it just turned out like crap because we didnt spend much time on it and didnt have the right materials

devon, not a bad looking shape. That wood is way too thick though. You probably need it about half that thickness and then a few layers of fiberglass.

I think it may have been easier to make a Skate then a Board, but if your gonna go for it you may as well go all out... just not sure how your gonna hold bindings down on that thing.

devon, well if you go thinner, you already have your layout for board shape, it will be easy to transfer that to the new wood. Then glass it.

Looking good so far, keep us up to date.
