|
|
Well, I am finally back, a lttle scraped up (funny story), a little jet-lagged, but definantly a differnt person. It was a trip I will soon not forget. The people, the places...all amazing and so different then my little world. I have a bunch of pics so I will pick a few and post them.
First was a week spent in Bali itself. Stayed in the Seminyak region...turned out to get to our condo you had to drive down the only gay district in Bali. And yes...they have "guys" sitting in groups whistiling at you that aren't really guy's at all. Some quit convincing!!! HAHAHAHA The food was awazing a soooo freaking cheap. Everything was cheap there except for the clubs..they are normal prices. Our main place to hang out at night (skybar) was next to the place were the 2002 bombings happend that kiied 212 people. All that remains is a memorial and an empty lot.
Visted some of the main Temples on the Island, one on the edge of a 500' cliff looking over the ocean, one made out of solid rock in the ocean, only accesible during low tide and one on an island in a high mountain lake.
The main staple of the island is rice, and every open lot or mountain slope was rice paddies...everywhere. Really cool to see people out there choppin rice.
Transportation over there is insane. I would say 5% cars, 95% mopeds with little to no traffice laws. The center strips are useless and sidewalks seem to be part of the road (yes, I even road up on the sidewalks myself on my 'ped) You also drive on the left side of the road..that took a bit to get used too. My friend described the relationship b/w cars and mopeds like this..."Cars are like the big rocks, and the mopeds are like sand filling in every single space until you cant fit anymore"
Then from Bali, took a plane over to Lombok, picked up at teh airport, driven across the Island to a marina on the other side, were a boat was waiting which took us to a tiny island of the northwest corner of lombok called Gili Trawanga and its part of three islands. There we stayed in an awesome condo. One thing about the Island...no motorized vehicles...you either rent a bike or ride a horse drwan carrage. Makes the nights impossibley quite. Did a shark dive and snorkeld a bunch. Really my favorite part of the trip...oh and on the last night, I took Andraya on a stroll down the beach and asked her to marry me...as soon as she said yes, a shooting star went across the sky..kid you not! So thats my trip..I wont talk about the trans-pacific flight...cause it sucked....but it all worth it!!!!!

Yea thanks for all the congrat's....a man has to know when he found the best...and I do...so I did. It's just nice finally having my mom off my arse for awhile! HAHAHA
I'll get a pic of the ring as soon as it gets in. It is being custom made in New York by some designer. Should be kick arse.

Sweet pics D$ and congrats on the engagement. That flight is definitely a killer.....I dread making it.
Looks like a place I need to go visit next time I'm on that side of the world.

Congrats. I've decided not to take anymore trans-oceanic flights until I can afford 1st class tickets or charter.
No photoshops yet? wakeboarder.com is a let down today. Not even some anal lube in the bedroom picture.

CONGRATS!!!!! Very happy for you guys, glad you joined the club!
My only bit of advice: small wedding + short engagement = less money + less stress
We got engaged end of January, and we will be married four weeks from tomorrow ( 04/06/08 ) at his parents oceanside condo in FL with just immediately family and best friends (<20 people). Major details were planned in about 24 hours. It has been awesome!
Bali looks amazing. I had another friend who just did the trans-pacific engagement....they went to Thailand and the Philippines (got engaged in the latter).

Wow, just had a chance to go back and take a closer look. Holy crap man that looks like an awesome trip. That "postcard" shot is amazing. I love that style and type of architecture. 500 ft cliff is frickin huge. Haven't seen one so vertical like that dropping right into the ocean.
I'm probably out of the loop, have you guys tied the knot yet?
