| I am starting to not like my new computer. My ipod nano(2nd gen) connects and stays connected unlike my blackberry. Windows tries to update it and asks for the cd my ipod came with. Which of course the newer ipods don't come with them so I clicked show me other options. And it couldn't find the drivers. This ipod worked fine on my old computer. |

sounds to me like a corrupetd infcache.1 you can locate the file in c:\windows\inf. go tot he directory, delete the infcache.1 file (or cut and paste to desktop if you wish) and then plug you nano back into the usb. this will rebuild the infcache file =) _________________

right click on the infcache file, and select properties. security tab ----> edit ----> Add user groups. type administrators in the field hit ok, and set administrators to full control _________________

| Ok, I deleted the files. I tried the ipod again and it did the samething. It says Windows is unable to install your ipod. It says I should download the ipod drivers from the apple website. But I couldn't find any drivers. |

instead of it installing automatically, select manual and point it to c:\windows\system32 and see what that does _________________

well, i spect we can get it installed, but my abcess tooth has made me take a percocet. i am not long before sleep. so maybe not tonite. if you wanna try, you need to locate the file setupapi.dev. open with notepad and go to bottom. highlight last line and hit ctrl-f. search for "Error installing file" and mark the up thingie. it will give a readout of the errors that you are having.
i couldnt install my printer last month, same problems as with your ipod. after trying to install it i would open that .dev file and seach from bottom up. you should see something like
flq: {_commit_copyfile}
flq: {SPFILENOTIFY_STARTCOPY}
flq: {SPFILENOTIFY_STARTCOPY - returned 0x00000001}
!!! flq: Error installing file (0x00000002)
!!! flq: Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
! flq: SourceFile - 'c:\windows\twain_32\escndv\escwiad.dll'
! flq: TargetFile - 'C:\Users\Owner\{4168dc10-e504-44f7-b46e-9906ea45f580}\escwiad.dll'
flq: {SPFILENOTIFY_COPYERROR}
flq: {SPFILENOTIFY_COPYERROR - returned 0x00000000}
!!! flq: SPFILENOTIFY_COPYERROR: returned FILEOP_ABORT.
!!! flq: Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.
flq: {SPFILENOTIFY_ENDCOPY}
so i would search my pc for escwiad.dll and if i had to google. when i got it i would put it in system32 folder and try again. it took several attepts but i finally got it working. sorry i sound like a homeless man, very sleepy. i might can e-mail file to ya if needin help. outta town tomarrow, be back tomarrow nite and not as sleepy.
bleh, joey no function sleep well without. nite.
