well i finally decided to upgrade my old '99 obrien blunt. Shocked

i will be getting one of these boards.(all 138/139)

07 LF Trip
07 PS3
07 MURRAY
07 3DS

i am unable to demo so i need yalls expert advice (everyones an expert online right? Very Happy )
heres what im looking for

1. must hold and edge and carve extremely hard. most importantly must hold its edge well, this is the number one thing im after.
2. id like a board that excells at ollies.
3. needs good pop. ill be riding a very small wake (20' hurricane) so i need all the help i can get. every single board lists "INSANE POP" as there discription so its hard to tell from reading adverts.

please post what youd recomend from THESE choices and why (ie hardest edgeing, biggest pop, etc)

thanks!

If you want INSANE POP then you should probably get the ps3 out of those 4 boards. It's the only board that has a 3-stage rocker.
I've never ridden the ps3 but all I here are good things about it so go with the ps3.

agreed. but what about hold, i really was wanting the outboard bolt in fins.
the PS3 is the only one with a center fin. id really like to get away from that.

STANG KILLA SS, the ps3 is probably the loosest of the 3, even on edge, cause the rail is so soft. if you want edge hold, the 3ds is the way to go.

as for pop, many people have a very skewed view on what pop really is. Basically, all boards will pop very well, it's the trajectory of the pop that varies from board to board. Briefly, your pop is generated by your edge, as is your speed. If you can find a board that is a little slower on edge, it will give you more vertical pop, because all the pressure on the bottom of the board isn't being used to move the board sideways. A board that is faster on edge will let you leave the wake cleaner, but will launch your farther out rather than up, because all that pressure under your board is being used to move the board across the surface of the water faster. What a 3-stage rocker essentially does is intentionally make the board slower by interrupting the water flow across it, so when you edge, the pressure on the bottom of the board is pushing more straight up, rather than flowing quickly to the tail of the board.
there are other factors involved, like surface area and drag (usually molded fins have more drag and don't hold as well as bolt on fins) but that's a brief synopsis of how pop works
(kinda hard to explain, sorry)

You should look at the axis because it holds edge really well and has good pop. Even though it isnt on your list.

the 3Ds was my top pick, becuase of the out board large aluminum fins, and the widest tips of the bunch (for ollie) but god damn that olive green is UGLY.
if the PS3 is loose then its definaly not the board for me.
your pop and drag explinations all make perfect since.

any one else with input? i thank everyone that has helped so far! Cool

Many new bindings are pretty universal. My LFs ripped on me at camp so I had to use a demo pair of hyperlites and they worked just fine.

PS3
I absolutely love it. Loose enough but still holds a strong edge. Great pop and soft landings. Well balanced for anyone to use.

STANG KILLA SS, You will love the 3DS, you might find that you want smaller fins later, but it is a killer board.

i just found out that at cable parks they make you remove the fins? is this true?
(makes since, these aluminum fins could do some serious damage)
i hope not Sad i specifically bought it to be able to carve really hard, and with 4 outboard fins so i could hit sliders.... Sad
