|
|
I know tubers get trash talked around here, but we like to tube at the end of a long wakeboarding day just to mess around. I have a pretty big, round Sea Doo tube for 3 people with back rests. I figured it was so large it wouldn't flip...wrong.
I'm looking for something that I can really whip around with S-turns that won't give the rider a hard fall...something that's nearly impossible to flip over.
I was considering these 2, but am open to suggestions. Would also love feedback from anyone who's tried either of these.
Thanks in advance! |

3/4 of the fun of tubing is flipping people off on corners and it's the only challenge on the tube.
I don't have much advice as for which one but at least I didn't make fun of you for the tubing thread _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I've already got a tube like that...I need something for the more delicate ones.
Thanks for sparing me from the ridicule. |

Generally the only reason a tube flips is because the riders are positioned wrong and the weight is off, or because it's a tiny one person tube, but i'm not sure what would make a seated tube flip. Plus like Wakebrad said, the scare of getting flipped is half the fun. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

| Just wondering if there's a towable out there where I can do a sharp 180 at 35+ mph without flipping the towable. |

Meltz, tone doesnt come off well on the internet...i was being serious

you should get a manta ray - dont have to worry about flipping when you're 30 feet in the air! _________________ Zach |

Zcaithaca, actually you do. Type in manta ray on youtube and you'll see what i mean.
And generally a bigger tube with three or four people on it is hard to flip, how fast do you normally take tubers? _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Justin 25, To get a single person going across the wake with a modest speed, probably 30-33 mph but I have to take it back to 28 +/- so they don't keep whipping around towards the side of the boat because that's when they usually flip.
Zcaithaca, Holy crap on the Manta Ray! Sorry bout the mix up.
verticle, Great link, but none of those seemed to really be taking fast whips. They seemed to be going fast in a straight line, but not taking them over the wake as fast as we like to.
I think I'm going to check out the Trash (3rd pic). Thanks all for the feedback!!! |

You really shouldn't need to go that fast to whip someone. We go like a max of 25 and have no trouble whipping people. Is that one person on the three person tube? Do you go a different speed if it's more people? _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

| Yeah, if I only have 1 person on a 3 person tube, it takes a lot more to whip them (with SPEED). If there's 2 people on the tube, it's much easier. |

| the trash looks like it would be hard to tip. I heard the tubes with those wing type tips are harder to tip. |

Best tube ever is the obrien super screamer. I have had three. They are low profile, round with handles all the way around so you can reposition to brace yourself. It's hard to flip if the person knows how to ride it. I don't care if I get flamed for riding the tube once in a while, it's still fun when I'm tired of riding. _________________ Silver Skurfer |

Meltz,
Do not, i repeat, do not get the sumo tube. Someone gave that to the fam as a gift. It sucks...it does feel like you are drowning or breaking your neck. That enclosed one that is of similar design could be better, but I have no actual experience with it. The Manta ray is a lot of work. We were never really succesful with getting anyone to 'fly' for any distance. Good luck. _________________ (0OO \ (||||)(||||) / OO0) |

Wider tubes are much harder to flip. With that said, I hope you run over a log made of razor blades the first time you pull. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

| I've riden on the half pipe one and it is a blast. If you have heavier pepole on it it will flip a lot faster but one or two light people on it and it should do the trick. |

I'll have to second the recommendation of the Super Screamer. Two years ago my wife was pulling me on the Super Screamer and she whipped me around so fast that I flew off the tube. In fact, I ripped off the neoprene handle pad trying to hold on. I ended up doing NUMEROUS barrel rolls across the lake. When I finally got my bearings, I realized that bathing suit was down around my ankles. _________________

| I yank my kids around in a tube called the Super Mable. You can hear the screams over the engine noise when I tow at about 20 mph and go into a 270 degree turn! I have never flipped them. |
