Hey guys and gals, I am a complete Noob when it comes to wakeboarding, I was looking at wakeboards for many weeks now and have come up with a few that I thought would be good boards to start out with, I could be completly wrong so please tell me.

I am looking to spend $300 or less on a package($300 of my own money, that I saved up, from hard work...I dont have my parents by me my stuff...)

Anyway, I was looking at the LF boards, And I have narrowed it down to about two, The 2007 Team, and the 2008 Omega

I am 5'8" and weigh 152lbs

Never been on a wakeboard, please tell me the Pros/cons of these wakeboards...

Thanks

Ummm no... it is just that most of the North American types are more worried about our pipes freezing than new gear. Be patient, read lots, the answers are easily found by using the search tool.

IMHO....

1st Boards:

1. Stick with one of the big 3-4 manufacturers (LF, Ronix, Hyperlite, etc)
Avoid any 'walmart' or 'academy' discount brand. (insert your local chain store)

2. Buy any board that the manufacturer lists as a beginner -> intermediate board.

3. No need to be too concerned about the specifics (rocker/feel/etc) as item #2 will take care of that for you.

4. Be sure it has a place to add a large fin, incase you find it too loose, to start.

5. Demo if you can.

1st Bindings:

1. This is where I would spend some extra money.

2. Find something that is comfortable and firm.

3. They should look like a boot. Not a flimsy piece of rubber.

4. Again don't be too concerned with open/closed toe, fancy tightening knobs, etc

I ride an 03 Obrien Science and 06 Liquid Force Alphas, so take it for what you will.

howabouttheiris, has you taken care of pretty well. I ride a 2006 LF 143 Team w/ Sphinx bindings; I am 5'0" and weigh 190. It is a great board and the bindings are really comfortable.

May I suggest not buying a brand new board. Buy a board that is two, three years old. Board companies dont change there board molds very often i.e. LF does every three years. I just bought an 04 LF Trip still in the wrapper last winter for $68 off of ebay. Its a step up from what I was riding, and it was a steal. And got 06 LF Transits for $99 off of ebay.

Ebay is your friend, use her wisely.

Correction: I am 5'9", not 5 foot. If I were 5 foot and 190, that would make me a tub of stuff.

pet575, When I first read that I was picturing you looking like a basketball and eating a box of twinkies a day.

Where is "around here"? If you live near me, I will let you demo anything I have and see what you like......

Can you demo or rent?

I wouldn't drop $300 on something that you don't know if you will like. Who knows, you may want a knee board and tube....or a wakeskate.....or skis....

Do you have a handle/rope?

If you are set on buying something....

http://boardersmall.com/xcart/home.php?cat=280

.......has some good deals in the closeout section linked....

+1 to EJ's suggestion. Maybe I jumped the gun a bit in responding. Are there any wake or snowboard shops near you? There is a shop near me that is wake in the summer and snow in the winter. Anything like that near you? You should try one out before you buy. You might find out you don't really like it all that much.

I rode a friend of mine's OLD board before buying. Made me very happy with what I bought because the old clunker is all I had for comparison.

I dont know how I am going to try out wakeboarding before I buy, because I live in Ohio......and Ohio kinda sucks when it comes to water sports...lol....we have A TON of snowboard shops around but none of them have any wakeboard supplies, at all......

I am just digging myself deeper into another expensive sport, I already play paintball during the winter on an inside speedball field and that costs me $50 a trip.....o well.....I guess there really isnt anything cheap to do anymore.....

I'm a tub of chit, but not that big of a tub of chit! Have you asked the snowboard shops if they carry wake, or just assumed that they don't? With as much boating as there is near Ohio, I'm willing to be some of them carry wake stuff at that time of the year.

Run some searches on the manufacturers' sites for LF, Ronix, Hyperlite, O'Brien, CWB and see if they have some local authorized dealers in your area. For example, LF dealers in OHIO:
