I have found that I'm better at some of the songs I either hadn't heard before or didn't know that well. This was especially true on easy, where it is slower and you don't play the melody, rhythm, or bass in full-just parts of it. I found myself f'ing up because I'd be trying to play the whole melody on the songs I knew well. On medium, it was helpful to know those songs a little better, though.
Hard is killing me. I just can't find a way to get to that orange button and then get back to the green/yellow/red majority of the notes. Anyone have any tips on that one? I've tried just reaching down there with my pinky finger-not really working out. I've also tried sliding all four fingers down a button, but I find I have troubled sliding back up to the right spot in time after playing an orange note.
Suggestions? Tips? Should I just kill myself? _________________

pet575, just get used to sliding your whole hand. there are sections of songs that you can just leave your hand on red yellow blue orange.
just do it. you'll get used to it. _________________

| numbfoot, yeah there is not a song on rockband that I couldn't beat on my first try when it came to guitar. I do like the music more, just needs some more insanely hard songs lol. |

If you have the wireless guitar with the detachable neck, expect problems. The connection for that neck is crappy. Clean it whenever you start having problems with it. Pencil eraser or alcohol. _________________

Well the sticky buttons gone. numbfoot, I definitely agree the devil went down to georgia is insane on hard! I almost got him but its a crazy song.
BTW: I love knights of cydonia on hard and and a lot of the bonus songs are really good too. Weird though, Ive started doing some expert songs (mostly bonus) and a couple (closer and cant be saved) feel like theyre barely a hard level. Really easy...but then there are some ridiculous ones too haha |

AHHH! Im about to go insane. Im trying to get 5 stars on "One" on expert (Ive gotten 299k which is 4 stars; 90%) I can absolutely boss the whole song but of course the solo is insane. So I go into the solo in that insanely fast part with between 240 and 260k pts (PLENTY to get way over 300k and 5 stars) and full star power so I can get through it. And right before the solo starts I tilt my guitar to get star power but it wont do it! I use it all the time with no problems (twice during "one") but this has happened to me 3 times out of 4 now! I have my guitar straight up and down...swinging it around and jumping up and down, trying not to lose and it wont go star power!!! WTF!!! Can you not activate star power while playing really fast or something?! Whats the deal? |

| Star power sometimes won't come on for me either. I have been told that hitting the select (or maybe it was start) button turns it on as well. |

I beat "One" on hard yesterday. Took me freakin forever. I'm pretty pumped about it.
Playing the fake guitar prompted me to learn some new songs on the real guitar too. I need to get an electric to try some of these songs for real. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

All I got is Lou on expert (DEATH), Through Fire and Flames, and 2 or 3 bonus songs and Ive beaten everything. Raining Blood on expert was nuts. So is the Cult of Personality solo! |

Yeah, I found the transition to "Hard" to be, well, hard. But once you do it for a while you get used to shifting your hand and it becomes natural. I don't know if I'll go too far into expert though. My hands get tired playing 1 song on hard. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| dmb, no but on a PC it was. 100 percent failure. You couldnt play it because it lagged/chopped. I mean just by the nature of the game you cant play if it does it even a little tiny bit but it was substantial, and it was a fast PC. We returned it. |

talk about a sick game, I've beat every song on hard except Metallica One, which ironically is my favorite tune on the game. Other than that I'm hittin about 3/4 of the way through expert. rock on man....rock on... _________________ GET YOUR DAILY DOSE!

LFADAM, you're insane man.
I can't win the final battle on hard. I haven't been playing as much lately though. I'm about 2/3 of the way through on expert. I've also learned about 8 new songs on the acoustic. I really need to get an electric guitar so I can play the other half of the songs I love. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

So time to revive an old thread. I am about to blow a fuse right now. I just picked up GH3 after not playing more than once or twice over the summer and beat raining blood first try (expert) so I decided to try TTFAF (only song I havent beaten). Failed on the first two attempts in the intro, then the 3rd one I made it through the intro. I got full star power and was crusing through the song. I made it through the solos (although I used star power) and thought I had it! But there was ONE MORE hard section before the outro and it got me. 81% through! AHHH!
But the real reason I revived the thread is because I saw the track list for Guitar Hero World Tour. Comes out October 26th I believe. Has 2 Ozzy Ozbourne songs, 2 Jimi Hendrix, and rumor has it that another Dragonforce song will be included (Fury of the Storm). Cant wait |

LFADAM, dear lord
I've been stuck on one at hard forever!!! I get 79% and like 230K (dominate the whole song) until the crazy three finger rips and die in like 5 seconds but i was surprised at how i've been able to get about halfway through on expert... it's funny how frustrating this game can be sometimes
edit* i just saw i have 1990 posts, the year i was born!! haha please continue _________________ Wake Forest University |

Blindside_137, Yea I know exactly the spot that you are referring to on One. Its nearly the same as it is on expert. I did well if I get 60 percent on that section (Fast Solo A). You just have to get full star power and save it till then and use it and just hit those buttons as fast as you can while strumming like crazy. You should get through no problem, but then you do have the rest of the solo to beat sans star power. Its not nearly as bad though.
Tried TTFAF more tonight and I can get 70-80 percent through almost every time. Hermans solo is a BEAST so I usually have to use my star power then, so I get through but lose on the Twin solo (very last hard part), although last time I screwed up early and had to use star power but I made it through Herman and Sams solo with no star power. So I guess if I can do that again and save star power till the Twin solo I should have it. I can smell it... |

Just picked up the new Rockband 2 this last week. First time I ever played any of these games. Pretty damn fun, although my luck hasn't changed. I looked online this morning to find that Guitar Hero World tour comes out this weekend and the drum kit has 3 pads and 2 cymbals _________________

Did you beat that on expert? If you did that is just unreal. Medium is as far as I go when it comes to that. |

big_steve, yea. Took a longgg time.
Got world tour. Im starting on hard so itll take me longer to beat. Unfortunately, so far Im unimpressed. Seems like the gameplay went back to GH2 instead of progressing. Everything is tiny; the rock meter, the streak counter, the multiplier, and the actual notes. I have no idea why. You cant see anything. The menus are endless and unorganized. (Ex you select something, come to another menu, then another, and another) My biggest problem is that its back to as hard as GH2 or precision mode in GH3 it seems. You have to get the hammer ons perfect or it doesnt count. Maybe I just need to get used to it. |

Just beat GHWT on hard with the guitar. I'm about half way through on drums. Guitar was way too easy. I never failed a song and went through first try. It didn't have any insane solos like One.
The song selection is alright. I like that they have some variety in there but it detracts from what could be other good songs.
The custom songs are retarded and the music studio, while better than I expected, is still pretty worthless. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad, just wait until you start expert. I was thinking the songs were wayyy too easy until I started expert. Big jump up. Unfortunately I still think it was a liiiitle too easy on the whole (I didnt fail a song until the one by Answer, 3rd from last I think) but theyre definitely fun. Mr Crowley, Crazy Train, Wind Cries Mary, etc. are hard enough for a challenge but doable so theyre fun. The easiness does end at the last song thought. Satch Boogie is insane. Its all fine and doable until the one minute solo of constant slides. Even though its a tap section (which makes it easier) its just so long that my fingers run out of energy. I always fail at 78 percent because I just cant press the buttons anymore.
The song list has really grown on me now. I like it as much as GH3. If only they traded out the freakin willie nelson one and ramblin man for two real songs...then it would be sick. ("LITTLE WING" PLEASE!) |
