Hey guys,

I have a question regarding my two boards. I have an old Hyperlite "Freedom" that I am able to jump and cross the wake with . Then I have a Freemotion "Freemotion XLR8" the yellow one and with that one I am not able to even get to the middle of the wake. Now the Hyperlite is an old board and I am looking to get a new board. I will like something that will allow me to jump the same way that my old board does. I see that all the boards have 3 measures: Length in cms, width, and rocker. Can some one explain to me what each one does? I do not have too much $$$$ and I only need the board.

Thank you
Carlos Very Happy

I will assume that there is nothing wrong with your boards and suggest a couple of things that may be different that would cause you to not be able to get to the middle of the wake on one board and not the other...

1) fins...

Is there a difference in the size locations of the fins? Early on riders tend to not twist their bodies enough wrt the board, or pull too much with their trailing hand and unrotate their body, or lean too far back and put the front fins out of the water.... in all these errors you loose control of the board and are unable to get on edge.

2) binding angle...

Is there a difference in the angle of the bindings? If one is \ | or | | and the other is \ / then you may notice a lot of difference.

Good luck!

Length: how long the board is. All manufacturers have charts to let you convert your weight to the appropriate length.

Width: these may vary some, but not too much. Unless you are not going "off the shelf" then I suspect the board will have a decent length-width ratio. In general a narrower board would turn faster, but be less stable.

Rocker: is how much the board curves up at the ends. \_____________/ It will have an effect on how the board jumps. I suggest searching for it, as there are 1000s of topics on it's effect.
