May have been wrong. My friends may have the wrong setup for these speakers. Will keep you posted. But for right now. Just don't listen to me. In other words, act like usual.

haugy, If you ever hear any Wet Sounds speakers with proper amplification and set up properly, they are very clean and sound amazing whether you are in the boat or behind it or standing on the platform. Comments like yours without knowing any other details on the system you heard are worthless to anyone looking for real input. The old saying goes, chit in chit out. If you under power a speaker, or clip an amplifier. A speaker will re produce it. No fault of the speaker. The speaker is at the end of the line and at the mercy of what you are powering it with and how it is set up AND who is at the volume control.
wakejeff, I always recomend customers to try to listen to the speakers from a dealer. You can listen to them set up PROPERLY and also compare. You can e mail us and we can see if there is a dealer near you to get you a demo.

wetsounds1, well before you bash on me hombre. The two boats I can think of in question were set up by YOUR authorized dealers. I know because I watched the install on one of them. The shop used the amps you had listed out for them.
The first boat was a B52 with two Pro 485's and two Pro 80's.
The second boat was a Supra 24SSV with two Pro 80's.
Each one has no clarity on the high end. When you crank them, they will prject a good sound at a distance. When you are riding behind the boat, I am willing to bet you won't be able to compete with any other speaker system. But that's because you have the sound of the boat, water, wind, etc filtering out the lack of clarity.
But when you are in the boat, the lack of clarity and sound control is terrible. At any volume there is no crisp clean sound.
I've been around enough boats to know a poorly wired and powered system. These two boats spared no expense in getting proper equipment and hardware. But the end result was just not desireable.
The Supra owner has already ordered replacements for his Pro 80's. |

Haugy,
Send me an e mail to twhite@wetsounds.com
I would like to know what dealer that was. It seems that they need some training help. As what you heard is not typical at all. Spending a lot of money on gear doesn't always translate into great sound. I wish I could personally train each dealer and set up each system but I cannot. So I guess even authorized dealers do not always get them set up properly
Sounds like some simple things like helping them get the set up properly.
Also, once again, a speaker reproduces what signal it is sent. If they are clipping the signal from the head unit or the amplifier. It won't matter what speaker is on the end of the line. The person running the volume control is also very important.

Sure, Email coming.......dang. Email server took a dive.
PM coming.
For those who read this. I may have been completely wrong on my assumption of the quality of Wetsounds. In talking with wetsounds1 the setup may not have been done correctly. No matter how right I thought I was.
So stay tuned. We shall see if the amps need to be changed out. And if then they are of the quality I was expecting. |
