So my phone randomly decided not to work yesterday morning. It would just display "Check SIM" and it would only allow me to dial 911 as any locked phone w/ no service does.
I cleaned my SIM w/ an eraser and tried re-inserting it a few times, and I also tried to get to my phone book using Motorola Phone Tools, but no dice.
I also tried inserting my SIM card into my bro's phone and it also showed "Check SIM." I then stuck his SIM in my phone and it accepted the SIM but asked for his security and subsity passwords as any working SIM and working cell phone would.
Should I assume that I've just lost all my phone numbers? I'm pretty sure they were all on the SIM and none were saved on the phone itself. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

It sounds to me like your card is done for, however, I have no idea what would of caused it.
I've had phones die in a pool, go through a washer/dryer, and many times in lakes. However, the SIM card has worked each time in the new phone.
Sorry to hear that Scott. |

Actually - if you plug your phone into your computer, you might be able to save the contacts from the phone. By default, my phone saves everything to the phones memory, unless I tell it otherwise.
I have the Razr, and I am also using multiple numbers for each person, so if I save to the SIM card, I have to have different entries in there for each person....However if I saved them to the phone it allows me to have multiple entries for each person.
Hope this helps...Sucks that it happened though. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

| Take it to the store - usually they have a nifty SIM card saving machine. I'd bet they can can rescue your numbers and transfer them to a new SIM card. |

garveyj- I've tried that. The most annoying thing for me was that I already had my phone's contents backed up onto one of my external hard drives. Unfortunately, my entire motorola folder with my backed up phone list and hacking programs and images got deleted or moved, so I don't have it anymore. Oh well, my bad. And for whatever reason, by default my numbers were/are all on the SIM card.
Good to hear about that nifty SIM card saving machine, though. My next move was to head on into an AT&T store and see what they could do for it.
And David, if this is the way that Karma is treating me after all the sht that I've pulled on this website over the years, then I'm perfectly fine with it. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

So evidently you're supposed to change your SIM card every 6 months? First time I've ever heard of that. The customer service dude also hadn't heard about any nifty SIM card saving machine. I did get to keep my card though, so next time I get a day off work I'm gonna head on in to some place that has one. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com
