Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a carving board for a buddy of mine, but i don't know too much about them. He'll want the best available and will know his stuff, so does anyone know anything about these things?

I was looking at this one:

http://www.ridershack.com/arbor-wood-fish-skateboard-p-585.html

Thanks in advance!

Softer wheels are a must, i'd think, yeah...not much fun to slide mid-carve Smile

Those are slick, thanks! So is that basically a wakeside-type site, so they're all good?

Should I be finding some sector9 boards on this site?

I personally wouldn't recommend the Arbors. They look really cool but are pretty stiff from my experience. If money isn't an issue I would recommend the Loaded Vanguard, Gravity Hyper Carve, or some of the Landyachtz. For trucks, go with Randalls or Indy 180mm. I ride a Sector 9 bamboo pintail, which is the only good S9 IMO. S9 is cheaper and more readily available. The others usually need to be ordered.

Check silverfishlongboarding.com for more info.

J-Ro, Don't your heels hang off the sides of that board and drag when you carve?

Second the landyachtz, they're probably the nicest boards I've ever seen.

Just get this and call it a day: http://www.landyachtz.com/D25.cfm?PID=127&place=1

tonality, if you want carving, DO NOT get the evo. I have the vanguard, and have ridden the other Loaded boards. Amazing boards for carving, if you want to get into the tech stuff like downhill or sliding, I wouldn't recommend them, but they are so much damn fun, and incredibly fun. Landyachtz are also really good boards. Some people will flame S9 boards, but they are still legit, it's just the hardware they come with that is sometimes suspect. Check out www.milehighskates.com and www.thelongboardstore.com. They have some prebuilt completes that they put together because they work well together. Plus, there is a wide variety of the best boards you can find for any style.

P.S. Know that there are flexy boards, and there are stiff boards. Flex is amazing for carving, but no SUPER speed, but doesn't mean it can't bomb a hill. Stiff doesn't mean it can't carve either. Also the longer it is, the more stable... or more importantly, the wheelbase length. A good all around length is 30-40. For wheels a good range would be 75a (softer)-80a (harder). And for size of wheels, anywhere from about 60mm-75mm would be fine, just watch out for wheelbite.

Sheesh, longboards got expensive since I last rode one.

Anyways, this site's got some good looking boards, several of which people here have already talked about. Plus, you get a free brain bucket when you buy a complete, which someone who's into downhill will definitely need.
