Anybody have experience customizing a tower video camera mount for their tower? What's involved making it? Was it easy, Instructions?

I was thinking of using basic speaker mounts on each side of the rope pivot point, and have the camera go above the attachment area - and have a coat hanger (not literially, something stronger) follow the rope on a tripod pivot adaptor.

Thoughts?

This would be just to analyze riding - and know that it would not be the best quality (probably bounce a little)

Thanks,
Ben

Yup - now - materials/intstructions/advice on building your own. The second one looks like the Tracker (not sure if I'm getting my names right)

thanks

I built one from a piece of 2"x1/4" flat metal plate from OSH and used muffler clamps for the tower mount , used the Trakker shape.

The tricky part was building something that gives smooth adjustable tension on the camera plate , I put 2 bearings on either side of a piece of 2" pipe so that if i tighten the nut and bolt that goes through to the plate I can get adjustable drag on the camera pan.

It is on a friends boat since I dont have one but I will try to get a picture , however I have access to welding equipment and lots of tools and if I were to do it again I think I would just buy a Trakker and be done with it.

I would agree on the year guess, but I'm pretty sure it's not a Nautique. My guess would be a Malibu.

When did they move 2001 to in between "Pre 1990, post 1980"? I was actually thinking 1988 Malibu.

My guess is it is an 89 mastercraft 240.

Ok, I cheated. The 1st and 3rd picture are of my boat. The camera mount still works great after 3 years. I built it in my garage. I think I posted here a couple years ago on how I built it. 100 bucks and a couple hours. No vibration at all.

If you want it to just analyze without putting all the work into it, you can buy a spycam and just attach it to the tower with the mount that comes with it, I did that and it was about 80 bucks... you just attach the output on the lense to your cam and just hit record.. the downside is that it is a wide angle and doesn't follow you. Just a thought if you didn't want to put alot of work/money into it.
