I have been doing flips for quite a long time but never grabbed them. Now i want to grab them but i don't know how. This may seem like a dumb question but how do you grab flips. When i try to grab a half cab roll i cant get my hand on the board and i over rotate. Also when trying to grab a tantrum i always miss it. I can flip easy and do grabs easy but i just cant put the two together any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also does any one ride on the brazos river up by ski ranch or the cleburne side.

to grab a tantrum indy for example, you have to take the tantrum straight up and wait a little before you grab it, that way when you do grab it, your rotation speeds up but you still land on the board because u delayed the rotation in the beginning. not sure but i would assume grabbing most inverts would be similar

brazosfreak05, when grabbing inverts the key is to pop, grab, then initiate the flip. For a half cab roll, you want to reach for the grab immediately when you leave the wake and think about the grab more than the invert. Half cab rolls come around pretty easily so you shouldnt be hurting for air time. Scarecrows are also a pretty easy trick to grab.

how are you trying to grab that halfcab roll? on R2R's for me, it's easiest to grab them melan. Just keep reaching for that board, or trying to tap it and you'll get the feeling for where it's going to be and how much faster you'll rotate by grabbing. The just work on holding it a little longer each time. Tantrums were the first invert i could grab, and started off just by trying to tap the rail. the more it tried, the longer i could hold it.

And another reason wakeboarding is better than surfing, you die less, that means you have another day to wakeboard, which is more fun than surfing anyway.

Is there some trick to grabbing TS Frontrolls? They are my most consistent invert so I want to grab them. I tried and tried for multiple sets this week and could NOT do it. I used to try indy but my friend says tailgrabs are easier so thats what I was trying. I would go for the grab right off the wake but could NOT get it to save my life. I would chase it about 3 inches away the whole way around but still usually land it. The only one where I actually got my fingertips on the board I slipped out. Incredibly frustrating...

Can you touch your toes without a wakeboard on ? lol

Makes crazy sense, but start stretching more before you ride and just in general, flexibility will help you grab that board. It is pretty important for your body to know how to bend like that when under forces of a flip.

Lots of good advice above. Most notable to grab before you flip, so get the grab, wait and flip.

I have the same problem. Well i've really only been trying to grab my backrolls. You wouldn't think an indy backroll would be that difficult, but i really have trouble reaching it. For an indy backroll, would the "grab first and then flip" method still apply? Pointers would be appreciated.
