|
|
| I was wondering if the older mastercraft boats or the older ski supreme boats have produce a good wake. I know the older nautiques do (1984-1989) but am not sure if the same is true for mastercraft and ski supreme. If so what years are good for these boats. |

I had a couple of friends in high school who had a '92 MC ProStar 205 and a '90 to '92 Ski Supreme 21 Medalist (was the model I think). I think the MC was a better quality boat (more solid) but the Supreme had a much nicer wake (bigger, cleaner & more pop).
Not a lot of great info, but hope that helps. You can email me if you would like more info. |

Old MC's are nice. Some of the hulls were bad though.
Prostars- '89-'94 are good. Stay away from '95-'97
MC's have a super clean and rampy wake. My '94 Prostar 190 with 1000 lbs. ballast throw and big, clean, solid wake with a lot of punch to it. I've had mine for 3 years and haven't had a problem. Everthing is very high quality. _________________ Ride harder...

I don't have any first hand experience with Ski Supremes of that year. But, I've riden behind a bunch of MC's=a '90 Prostar 190 with 1100lbs in it, a '92 205 with about 1500lbs in it, a '98 Prostar 190 with 800 lbs in it, a '99 205 with various weights in it, and an '02 X-Star with factory ballast....The 90 Prostar is a killer slalom boat, marginal wb wake IMO. The 92 205 was decent, better than the 90 Prostar. But, you can have fun behind just about anything, and I've seen nice inverts, spins, etc behind a '91 190 with no extra ballast besides people! Technique is where it's at, not wake size. But if you can get them both, that's when it gets real fun! _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

Wake makes much easier and much funner to learn NAW. Prostar's are just fine for riding. Screw that slalom shitt! _________________ Ride harder...

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
But, if it weren't for slalom, there would be no Wakeboarding.....you'll learn one day, son. _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

No, it goes down like this NAW. Becuase of slalom, wakeboarding was so ugly back in the day. Wakeboarders wore gloves and pink vests.
Becuase of surfing we got skating, and because of skating we got snowboarding and wakeskating. Wakeboarders today have taken influences from all of these sports (not slalom) and tied it into one, making wakeboarding the beautiful art it is, they made it legit! The future of wakeboarding is safe becuase of these sports (not slalom).
NAW, this isn't a site for slalom. If slalom was as cool as you make it out to be, they'd have their own sites and forums too. So, until then you are stuck here talking about wakeboarding. Get used to it! _________________ Ride harder...

anti-shoobies,
What do you mean by "Some of the hulls were bad though"?
And I would have to disagree with you on the years of preferred hulls. The '94 and previous years ProStar had the typical flat bottom (better slalom wake), but '95 - '97 ProStar had a deeper v (not as good slalom, but better wakeboard wake). The '95 - '97 ProStar hull is what the X-2 (old X-Star) is built on.
And on the influence of slalom:
You said "Becuase of surfing we got skating, and because of skating we got snowboarding and wakeskating. Wakeboarders today have taken influences from all of these sports (not slalom) and tied it into one, making wakeboarding the beautiful art it is, they made it legit! The future of wakeboarding is safe becuase of these sports (not slalom)."
You are exactly right about wakeboarders today taking influence from surf, skate and snowboarding. And you are probably correct that those sports help secure the sports future. But if it weren't for slalom skiers buying wakeboards and starting the craze and if it weren't for slalom companies having the cash to build and promote wakeboarding, or skiboarding, the sport probably would not have made it out of the mid '90s. (With the exception of Wake Tech, the only large, core board company of the day). Surfers didn't give wakeboarding any credit back then, neither did skaters or snowboarders. And wakeboarding still wouldn't be what it today if slalom companies weren't still supporting the sport. HO-Hyperlite, O'Brien skis & boards + Liquid Force (ran as a seperate company, but I believe O'Brien owns all of LF's molds), KD(Kidder) - BlindSide & same parent company as Double Up, Connelly-CWB, Jobe skis & boards (old school ski company now owned by HO).
If you get rid of the ski companies, who's left? Maybe Double Up, Gator is making a comeback, WakeTech is making a comeback. What major contributors are out side of those 4? Joyride & Origin, a handful of other very small companies? Not a whole lot of cash flowing out there to support the sport.
Sorry jls 944 and everyone for what turned out to be a long rant! |

The hulls had bad construction is what I was talking about. I also wasn't talking about the board companies, because they are all bullshitt. Exception, Joyride, Gator, Douple Up, Wake Tech, Liquid Force. _________________ Ride harder...

I talked to several MC dealers and reps and they said those years of the Prostar hull were poorly constructed. _________________ Ride harder...
