|
|
this video isnt me but its pretty close to whats happening in my flip. i get the trip and pop, its just i dont get the rotation. it looks like a really sorry attempt to tantrum to revert and i land on my back or ass. i can do backflips of diving boards easily but with the board on, i turn. i looked at the trick section and every other topic on this website about it and none help that much. and its the exact same thing with my toeside backrolls too.

| the guy in the video is leveling off his edge waaaayy too soon, you have to wait longer than you think until the top of the wake before you try to flip |

| cut out super super wide, like rediculous, this will help you go wake to wake and higher, as you get better you can take a shorter cut. Wait for the boat to pull you back in and start a hard progressive edge back towards the wake. By the time you hit the wake wash you want to be hauling balls. As you reach the bottom of the wake let go with your back hand and square up to the wake and WAIT, no one ever does, for the pop and roll your shoulders back. Once you come around rightnyou get the feel, and its all timing after that. |

There is no way I am even close or good enough to attempt this yet but I was just thinking about it and wondering if it is at all possible to actually get the pop without attempting the spin.
What I mean is is it possible to initiate the tantrum but after you get the pop not to spin for the back flip? or will the wake still trip you into the rotation for the tantrum if you do that. Just trying to understand the physics better. _________________ Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. |

the wake usually starts to kick u over a bit. It'd be really hard to pull urself back on axis but I guess if you really wanted to you could try it yourself |

| I wish I could show exactly what I'm doing but I can't find the cable that can connect the camcorder to the computer. anyway I know what to do on both inverts but when I throw it I have a really bad habit of turning my body when I'm inverted. what I'm asking is if anybody had this problem if they could tell me how to get rid of it. I've tried a couple in the beginning of the summer and didn't have this problem, set it off for a while, tried them again, and suck. |

dude i have had the exact same problems dude i always wondered if someone else has had this problem too, i completly feel you one this one and i know how bad it sucks, last year when i tried like my 2nd tantrum ever i felt the sheer sickness of this trick cuz i got almost all the rotation so i tried probaly 7 more and actually almost landed one or two of them, then i completly bailed out on them until like mid-june and when i would try them i would get like a quarter rotation and spin towards blind and land on my back
i think the problem is that i am not giving myself enough room to cut and not cutting hard enough so both of us should probaly take SouthBoarder, s advice
i think another factor now is that i am afraid of it now, but i want this trick, or at least want to get close to it again i am going to try it friday or sometime this weekend hopefully _________________ She will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine. |

well I may not be able to do alot of things, but a tant is one of the ones I have dialed. Man the key thing after a hard cut in is switching you edge right at the wake and wait wait wait wait wait wait wait and then wait one more time for the very top of the wake, if you do like you are supposed to, it will kick you feet over your head. spot your landing and stomp it man. _________________ www.blackwaterrydas.com |

| You don't even need to cut that hard, it's all about switching your edge and timing. |

okay i went out yesterday and got a harder cut and my first tantrum was actually starting to come around but i still spun to blind just a little, then my last three were horrible, just like what i had been doing early this year, quarter rotation then spun to blind and landed on my head
i guess the problem is that i am waiting way too long to start to turn me shoulders and stuff _________________ She will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine. |

Are you turning your head to your right shoulder? (regular stance) |

i ride goofy and i think the problem might lie with me turning my head to my left shoulder, so yeah your probaly right if you were going to tell me not to turn my head to my right shoulder (regular stance) _________________ She will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine. |

| exact thing i used to do. I didnt really notice it until about a week ago. I would throw my head back but turn my head right. it was a real pain in the ass to find out that all those painful falls were because i turned my head the wrong way. |

| King of the Tigers, it doesn't matter what foot forward, you just wanna throw your head straight back, turning it to one side or another will cause you to spin which you don't want |

| Key is to wait for the pop and just look straight up at the sky. throw your back elbow out behind you like your elbowing someone in the face. |

Firstly take a wide enough cut that would easily clear the wakes and land about 3 feet into the flats. Do this standing really tall.
Be sure to ride to the top of the wake before you leave it then continue with what 02lightning said and look up NOT back. It can ruin the pop.
If your not leaving the top of the wake everytime try looking at it for much longer before leaving it.
I took and edited a vid of one of the girls im teaching to tantrum. she has given it a few goes and close everythine. this attempt was 3 weeks after her breaking a toe in RONIX closed toe boots. Make sure your front foot is really wound down tight as you can for tantrums as your toes seem to shove forwards if they arent tight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p31IvX0BqFM
Although not landed with being too out stretched you can clearly see the slow mo of a pretty good body form in the air looking straight up. look for the water.
Toeside backrolls ah ok, you want to work on one or the other. There are so many tips with toe backs but really would like to see one before commenting. Twisting is usually from not looking up or holding with two hands for too long. |

| im alot closer to landing toe backs than i am with the tantrum. i cant get through my head how the tantrum works. it just feels so innatrual to me. toe backs are more of a fluid motion. the closest i ever landed a toe backroll was my second time, landed it, but cased the wake and let go of the rope with no rotation. then tried the tantrum after that, than started to rotate. it sucks. |
