|
I need help getting more pop doing a 180......
Any advice......on how to approach the wake to get more pop rather than distance?
Is it just me being afraid of crashing and not standing tall on the wake...
As far as i see i need to take about the same sized cut....but i need to stand tall faster as i hit the wake.....is that right?
Thanks |

Quantum_C, just try and get more heighth like you would on a regular wake jump. doing a 180 has no effect on how you should be popping off the wake. _________________

| You're probably trying to spin it too early. Don't even think about the 180 until well after you've left the wake. Try doing it with a little more bend in your knees as you approach the wake and really push off it. Depending if you want to go wake to wake or out in the flats you can vary your edge. But really make sure you wait, they look horrible if you spin them low and fast. Pop, wait then spin. |

I know what you mean about not wanting to land your 180s in the flats when first learning them, i did it alot and usually caused me to fall when i was first doing them.
I'd say practice doing w2ws with a small cut out, Ie only cut out 75% of what you normally cut, but make sure at the wake you have the same amount of edge
You'll carry less speed, so you need to focus on really standing tall to get the extra height needed to clear it with less speed
Epic is right tho, You can litterly throw the 180 in the last second of the jump and its probably better that way
Landing on the downside of the wake makes the 180s alot easier to land |

| Hm, strange. For me, I get the most pop and go biggest (straight w2w, not into the flats) on my HS FS 180s. I think its because I have slightly more weight on my front foot so I can get over my toes (this is all happening subconsciously)...but I dont think its complete bullcrap. Haha. Adam Fields told me this. (That putting more weight on your front foot helps you get slightly more pop and help landing on your toes) It was for HS FS 540 help, but same idea. |

As epic says your probably spinning early. it look so much better if you JUMP FIRST! spin the way down not the way up. It perfectly normal what is happening to you just got to think about going up.
IT is more seated mellower cut on your heeelside but toessidesame as a toeside jump.
good luck. a vid always helps. are you going wake to wake? |

| It helped me to start switch and 180 to my regular stance because I knew I can land much easier riding regular. I don't know how good you are at riding switch but that might help you build up the courage. |
