I need to get some feedback on what type of Bimini style YOU like best if you were looking for a bimini for your tower? The Seedoo has a "TOP" style bimin which is above the tower and this would be the lowest cost to make. The Mobius has a "SUNSHADE" bimini which would be the easiest to be removable for folding down the tower yet still afforadable. The "CLASSIC" tower bimini would be the most expensive becuase it needs to be custom for each tower installation.

Love to get some feedback from you on what you like best and why.

Thanks,
Bill

I like the classic one the best... then the sun shade. I don't like the Sea-Doo one at all.

As a reference the TOP style is the easiest for us becuase we control all the dimensions up there, but the sunshade style is the best "middle ground" for working with an infinate number of possible installation configurations. The classic is most awesome but poses problems with the way we fold down and needing lots of dimensions from the installation to produce the Bimini correctly.

We are finalizing things for a bimini and wanted to get that "real world" input before committing to yet more tooling costs. Thanks for any help we can get, it's greatly appreciated.

Bill

Bill,
I've got a tower on order with you and if I can't get my current bimini working with it and you don't have one ready, I'm thinking about going with the sunshade look.

I figure I can make an expanding type frame, use the current cloth, and put 4 mounting clips on the tower. Put the tower up, pull the bimini out from under the set and spread it out, and clip it to the tower.

I agree that the classic one would be a pain in the butt to manufacture. And it would be hard to justify [for me] spending major $$$ on the lower price tower. The other looks a little tacky to me [of course, I'm using waterbed tubes for ballast so don't pay much attention to that].

Good luck, great product.
Now where's my tower ! (j/k)

Carey,

Check out the Bimini Project at www.diyTower.com, Steve Wolverton did a great job for very little $$$ on adding a Bimini to his Mini-Tower. There is some "getto" to it but it looks to work well.

I have so many people busting my b _ _ _ s on getting the Bimini done that I'll be black and blue soon if I dont get it out, just trying to be well calibrated before tooling up. BTW, your tower will ship this week Very Happy

Bill

I hate the sunshade. It's so annoying. Once it's on, it stuck there, you can't fold it up... You also have to find a good place to store it when not in use or when towing.

Carry an umbrella with you in the boat.
Kind of like Mary Poppins.
She was a hottie.
I'd give her a spoonfull of sugar.

The one on the SeaDoo is a bit ugly to look at, but I really like the way it mounts on the top of the tower. I'm 6'2" and I hate having to crouch around under the bimini. If you have speakers on the tower it makes more sense to go up top so you don't have to worry about whether the bimini will interfere with them. I don't have lights up there so not an issue for me...

I like the classic style, I'd want to fold it out of the way on cooler days.

I wouldn't order anything that required too many measurements, the more measurements the more I would think twice about buying it.

The over the tower style is just plain lame, plus it would or could interfere with other things you have mounted to your tower.

Over all the Classic one makes the most sense to me and looks good also.

I dont care much for bimini's, cuz I like the sun, and Ive only had one sun burn my whole life, but if I had to pick it'd be the classic, makes the boat like better than any of the other ones...

Bill, I've gotta vote for the classic, but a well done top mount would come before the sunshade, it just looks like a pain to store when not in use.

The classic, definetly. I already emailed you Bill, but to reiterate, I personally wouldnt buy a tower w/out a bimini, I guess the Texas sun is a little hotter than in IN or TN, because we've been using ours for about a month now.

Can anyone find a picture of the X-Star bimini referenced?

We have been leaning toward the sun shade style although we like the classic much better. The problem with the classic is it will need to be nearly custom for each tower install - which would make it at least $150 more.

The sun shade would be just a few minutes to put up or take off and fit in a ski locker for storage. The nice thing about the is when you dont need it there is nothing there.

Appreciate the feedback and keep it coming.

Bill

would it be possible to suspend a bimini from the top of the tower instead of from the legs? if you could figure out a way to suspend the thing instead of mounting it like you normally would, it wouldn't need to be custom for each boat and it might look better than the others.

The classic is the best looking and most convienant (sp) for towing. What in the heck is that thing on the Seadoo? Please don't do that one!

Thanks BigMac!

That's a innovative design on the Bimini and as a side note I got to play with those wakeboard racks at Surfexpo and what a marvel of engineering they are.

My concern on one that high is unless the Sun is directly overhead it's not going to offer much shade over the ones mounted under the tower. The nice thing is it is up out of the way and you dont have to play "dodge the bimini" as much.

We are leaning towards the SunShade becuase it could go on and off real fast but maybe long term their is a market for two styles, a second one that sit's much higher on the bimini but is not as effective for providing shade?

Bill

My spelling is not as bad as you would believe, I am just protesting bulliten boards not having spell checkers !

Classic Bill! It is proven and looks the best! I think most people can justify that extra cost. Or atleast they will when they try putting the others up!
