Hey, I did a search and couldn't find much info on how to ollie...I guess it's pretty basic but I'm having some trouble with it. I can kind of do it just by trying to bounce on the water, and it's the highest when I bounce a few times in the flats right after a wake jump, but I don't feel like it's nearly good enough to try an ollie 180 (which I want to be able to do before I try W2W 180).

Any advice on how to ollie / ollie 180 would be awesome. Thanks!

I found a good way of ollieing higher was doing it over bouys and then bigger objects. it really makes you push your back foot down.

You don't need much height at all for a 180

Build up speed. The harder the water is, the harder you can push off it.

Try cutting out hard then flatten off and quickly ollie.

You barely need any air to do an ollie 180. You'll be surprised at how easy it is once you attempt it. Just go out and ollie and rotate your legs and you'll be fine.

Reall all you do is press down on your back foot and you bounce out of the water, just maintain good body and board control after that.

Whenever I ollie I do a little "bounce" with my back foot and it makes a little bit of a ramp that helps get me up higher, more than just jumping once.

Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully I can find a pull at college to try it out.

To add on to what Ontrider said, it is probably easiest (at least for most people) to edge out hard heelside when you're building speed. Then flatten out immediately before pushing down with your rear foot, stomp the ollie, and pull your legs up. That should give you the air you're looking for.

Also, as already posted, it really doesn't take much air for an ollie 180. Give it a little pop, rotate your feet, and don't forget to move that handle to your opposite hip. In fact, you'll probably over-rotate the first couple of times you try it.

I just landed a BS olllie 180 for the first time this week. Again, over-rotation was more of a concern than under-rotation. I found that if I concentrated on getting the handle pass more than the rotation, the handle would pull me around to complete the 180.

I'm headed out to ride a little later. I might try the ollie 3 today. Stay tuned. Laughing

So, today I nailed the BS ollie 180 on the first and second tries. Say it with me..."handle pass"... This is one those wakeboarding firsts that = nirvana.

Didn't land the ollie 3 and also didn't land the backroll...though I attempted both. Still trying to land that first invert. According to my bro Matty, I rotated 270 out of 360 degrees on the roll. In otherwords, I came down board first on my toeside edge. It really stretched the big cat out. Puppy Eyes Mr. Green

In 7 days I'll be at wakeboard camp. Maybe Kyle or Amber can show me the way! Mr. Green
