It only turns into a money grab when there aren't any riders that have a spine to say no. And judging by some of the responses, some of you people aren't helping. I would say that it isn't wise to rip on the gap for using wakeboarding's likeness, but then say that you would accept their sponsorship offer because you're being a hypocrite. Have some principles, support a company you believe in and don't take the product just because it's free. Man, now I totally see what those inliners were saying when they said wakeboarders are a bunch of sellouts...

i hope you don't mean fruit booting because they deserve the gap sponsorships the most. all fruit booters should sport gap uniforms denimania style. i would have to be fully hooked the f-up to sign with them. most wakeboarders are far from sell outs. we pay a lot for our gear and most of us have our own style so probably wouldn't take it for just discounts on "gap wakeboard gear". hehe, sounds funny.

Feeling the need to defend true hippies everywhere that absolutely refuse to wear GAP clothing. Most actually protest against the GAP for using child labor or some other WTO issue. But I don't speak for the neo-hippie college types that are only looking for a scapegoat for doing drugs and a lazy unproductive lifestyle.

Enjoying the shower of irony though that the GAP started a wakeboarding line, they obviously are trying to cash in on the trend of wakeboarding clothing and people's desire to wear the right label on their shirts. I reject all that kind of stuff, but now I have to make another category just for this. I wouldn't wear GAP wakeboarding clothing even if I had to be dragged by horse over a dirt road for a mile.

Make room for Tommy, Polo, Izod, Guess, etc. - all the while thanking yourselves (if applicable) for turning wakeboarding from a great and fun activity into the MTV-spun culture it is now.
