|
|
A couple other posts have kinda of hit on this but here goes.
I have a 2006 baliner xt 175. Last weekend was the first time I video taped us wakeboarding. Our wake looks like like a ripple to most of the videos Ive seen. I understand that my boat doesn't compare to the wakeboard boats but man I need a bigger wake. I can't afford for the fat sacks and pumps so iwas going to add wieght other ways. How much weight will I need to add to make a difference.
Also about how tall is the average wake? I mean when I looked at mine on tape it looked maybe a foot tall. I would post a video but i r computr dum.
Thanks for any feedback. |

IMHO about 1000 lbs will make a runabout a better wake boat.
I use 2x 440lb Fatsacs and a couple friends and my Tahoe Q7 has a respectable wake. |

| Thats kind of what I'm asking. What is a respectable wake. So I add 600-800lbs what am I to expect. |

In my experiences it all depends on the the boat. Some boats adding 800lbs would make the wake 6" taller while others would only go half that.
If your not getting fat sacs I am not sure how your going to add that much weight to actually see a big improvement, unless your constantly filling your boat with passengers.
For me the average wake height is about 2.5'-3' but then I am spoiled behind my buddies boats. _________________ Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. |

endlessracingz, It may seem like it when your next to it, but I'd bet 3 foot wake would be damn near unrideable. I mean so t-ups probably get close to three feet from trough to crest, but I can't imagine a 3 foot high boat wake. _________________

I might be over exaggerating but when I'm out there the top of the wake is just under my knee or so it seems and thats a good 2.5' I dunno maybe I'm wrong _________________ Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. |

| That would make you around 9'-10' tall, or you're average height but your upper body is only 1' and you're all legs. |

I kick out a decent 18' I/O wake. Took a locker sac and a duffel. About 1000 Lbs plus 4 people. Trimming up makes the wake a little taller, but it gets soft so we usually go with a slightly smaller wake but trim down so its more solid. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

| The boat I normally ride behind at school is an 18 foot Sea Ray and it advises no more than 5 people or about 800 pounds on the boat at a time but we want to make the wake bigger. Can we have 5 people on the boat and add 4-600 pounds and still be safe in it? |

Define safe. You have to take due care with all that weight. The boat just wont handle very well. Its far more prone to get swamped going over rollers or stopping short. if youre on top of your driving, youll be fine. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

| I'm just wondering if you go over the recommended weight on the boat is it still safe enough to go out on. I probably won't be able to add weight though, since its a school boat. |

sooner dud, be careful because with a 17 foot boat, you probably don't have more than 140hp. And if that is the case, putting 1,000 pounds in that boat would be a very bad idea. It will be nearly impossible to hold a speed and I'd be suprised if the USCG capacity for that boat isn't 1,000 pounds or less anyway. Go with 400-500 pounds and just play around with the placement. 300 in the back and 200 toward the bow sould work best _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

Haha... Honestly, you might want to go for the heater option then. I actually slept in my boat SANTE the first night we got it. Not because I was excited, as we had an XSTAR before, but because we stayed out way to late and the park closed. So, we just played all night. Those were good times. |
