mobius V trailor

I have a mobius V and it has a tandium trailor with surge brakes. When i back up the boat, the trailor brakes lock up. There is a place on the side of the tounge, where you can put a bolt. The problem is, you cant't stick the bolt in a hole. It is to sit in a slot that is about 1/8th of an inch deep. I have to hold it there with a bungie cord and it constitantly falls out and the brakes activate. Any thoughts or ideas on how to do this more effectivaly. thanks

do you have the reverse light wire hooked up to deactivate the brakes?

The best thing would be to make sure that the blue wire on the trailers 5 pin connector is going to the backup lights on the towing vehical. My trailer also came with a small key that you can insert into that slot that is supposed to stay in place while you backup and then fall out when you pull forward. A short tether keeps it from getting lost. If you can't get the truck wired for the 5 wire connector you can check with your dealer for a key.

I just ran out and checked and my truck is set up with a four plug and my boat does have a five. When I plug the five into the four, all the lights and stuff work fine and the fifth plug just hangs over and does not plug into anything. I bet this is the problem. What will I need to change on my truck? I have a 2001 chevy 2500 4 door desiel. It has a big round trailor plug and i bought a 4 plug adaptor that pluged into it.

What you need is the same type of thin but with the five pins. When you get it hooked up make sure that the 5th pin goes from 0 to about 12 volts when you are in reverse. The Chevy should work but I had to rewire the socket on my Ford.

That will be the problem, you can also just stick that fifth plug into one of the sockets when backing up and it will work fine. There may be some trial and error to find the correct socket.

Something else you can do if you don't want to spend the money on a new 5 pin adaptor is just to disconnect the wires from the trailor to the truck when you back up. When your ready to go forward again just hook them back up. All that extra hole is for is your breaks.

Disconnecting won't help. That is what is causing the problem. To make sure the breaks don't activate you need to supply 12V to the 5th pin.

Another thing you can do is to run a wire from the fifth pin(blue wire on a 5-pin plug) to the running lights pin on your 4-pin plug ( as depicted in the picture ). When you need to back up, just turn on the lights, the solenoid energizes and closes the brake line, preventing your brakes from engaging in reverse. But be sure to disconnect, especially at night, otherwise you'll be driving WITHOUT brakes.

when you get to where you need to back up, just flip the 5 pin over so that the Blue wire is now connected and it should work fine. I have had to do this till I get it re-wired.

All you have to do is go to is go down to an auto store and get a new flat 5 pin adaptor. It will only set you back less then 20 bucks and you wont have to do anything else. The factory wire harness is already wired for the reverse light. If you dont want to spend the money, then put a nickle in the slot, or as said above, just turn the wire harness over and plug it back into the running lights and turn them on.

It is called a 7-Round to 5-Flat plug...Wal-mart has them as well....should be 12-18 bucks.

I purchased a new flat 5 pin adaptor from autozone and it works perfect. I guess that it will be O.K. to leave the light pluged in when it is backed under water. I have allways unpluged them, but with this trailor I will need to leave them pluged in. I guess they have improved the seals on the lights. Thanks for everyone who posted and helped with this.
